Lela Green Obituary

Lela L. Jackson was born July 10, 1962 to William M. Jackson and Ella L. Jackson. She was affectionally known as "Lynn" to family and friends. Accepting Christ at an early age, she was baptized by Reverend Dr. Norman Hairston and was a member of Zion Progressive Baptist Church. She was a mighty woman of God and a member Faith Temple of Christ under the leadership of Pastor Dennis Walton, where she taught Christian Education for many years. In 2017 she became a member of Family Christian Center, her last house of worship. Lela was a graduate of Horace Mann High School Class of 1980. Lela had many talents and wore many hats throughout her lifetime. She was a jewel to all whom she came in contact with. Lela loved children and spent lots of precious hours with her family and friends, inspiring, encouraging and uplifting their spirits. Lela was known to be a vibrant, fun-loving and a happy person, she met no strangers. Lela leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted husband Tony Green, loving son Darius Green, bonus daughter KaSheena (Cody) Wilbur, bonus son DiAndre Green, 8 grandchildren, one sister Felicia Moore, one brother Kevin (Nicole) Jackson, two nieces Ashley Moore, Lily Vega, three nephews Gary Moore, Anthony Vega, and Julius Jackson, brother in laws Diallo O. Shango, Jefferey Green, sister in laws Angela Dillon, Erica (Dwight) Richmond and LaToya (Nicholas) Neal, two aunts, 4 uncles, special cousins Mary Carter and little "sis" Jurnee Montgomery, best friend Rosalind Boyd, furry companion Max and a host of other relatives and friends. She was undaunted in her faith, and with dignity, grace, and the full armor of God she kept a fighting spirit. 2 Timothy 4:7 NKJV "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith". A visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, family hours from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Guy & Allen Funeral Chapel 2959 W. 11th Avenue, Gary, Indiana 46404. Services will be held at Family Christian Center, 340 W 45th Street, Munster, Indiana 46321.

To my Friend Felicia and the Green Family,

When Ashley told me about Lynn's passing (into GLORY) I was sadden but the first thing I thought was . . ."absent in the body present with the LORD" . . . . GLORY HALLELUJAH!!! Yes I know how much it hurts BUT know God says He is close to the brokenhearted and He WILL comfort those who mourn. God has ALL of you in His loving arms!!

I must add, that I LOVED how close you and your sister were. The bond you guys had was phenomenal, you guys set the barometer in sisterly LOVE!

She was an awesome nurse, that´s where I first met her.. I was afraid to get a blood transfusion but Lela stayed with me assuring me everything would be ok.. She prayed over me and sang to me until it was over.. She then told me about her church and Pastor Jackson.. Thank you Lela for who you were to this World.. I Thank God for allowing you to Grace my presence.. Rest In The Lords Arms my sweet friend ... Praying for your families strength Amen

Lynn. Words can not express what you mean to me and how devastated I am. I appreciated all the light you given me since the day I was born til you traded in time for eternity. Now I have to live this life til the end of my days without you and missing you. All the unconditional love my heart will always hold for you. Peace.
