Leo Hatch Obituary

LEO T. HATCH, SR. Portage, Indiana Leo T. Hatch Sr., age 79 of Portage, IN, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2007 in Portage, IN. He was born on April 26, 1928 in Smethport, PA to the late Allen and Marion Hatch. He was married on June 27, 1953 in Portage, IN to Dorothy Borman, who survives of Portage. Leo is also survived by his sons, Thomas (Jennifer) Hatch, Richard (Tracee) Hatch, John (Debbie) Hatch, Michael Hatch, and Leo Hatch Jr., all of Portage and James Hatch of Michigan City, IN; grandchildren Daneen, Michael, Brandon, Melissa, Natasha, and Johnnie; and great grandchild, Adriania. He was preceded in death by his brothers Al and Henry Hatch and sisters, Joan Brandel, Rose Marie Fast, and Kate Ryan. Mr. Hatch was an area resident since 1945, coming from Gary. He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, the Rotary Club of Portage, the Portage Lions Club and the Portage Chamber of Commerce, and was a supporter of the Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA, both in Portage. Mr. Hatch was a self-employed realtor and developer. Some of his developments in Portage were Willowcreek Plaza North and South, Peach Tree Central, Central Plaza, Timbercreek Estates, Swanson North, Briarwood, Airport Road, Sandalwood, Hidden Waters and many, many others. He founded Portage Real Estate in 1960 and Hatch Construction in 1979. Leo received numerous awards and has earned community achievement accolades for his dedication and commitment to the city of Portage. Private family services will be held at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN. To Dorothy and all of the family I extend my deepest sympathies. I was friends with the boys growing up and have many of fond memories of your dad and family at the lake. He did so much for the community. May God bless you and your families.
