Leonard Redding Obituary

Leonard Redding a resident of Aperion Care (Tolleston Park) transitioned on Friday December 3, 2021 at the age of 84 years after a lingering illness. Graduate of Roosevelt High School Class of 1955. He was a former employee of Look Optical as an Optical Technician. Leonard received a Career Certificate in Diesel Mechanics Technology and was a former employee of Electro-Motive Diesel (LaGrange, Il) and the Gary Sanitary District where he retired. He had a passion for building and customizing race cars which inspired him to open his own automotive shop "Leonard's Automotive". Leonard was the second eldest of 5 children born to the late Wilmon and Annie L. Redding. Preceding him in death his sister Dorothy Rainey and brother Bob Redding. Leonard leaves to cherish fond memories 2 faithful godsons Dardell Simmons and Santiago Chandler. 2 sisters Naomi Braziel and Tassie Winn; niece LaJuanza Braziel Moore all of Sacramento, CA. nephew Kenyatta (LaVern) Braziel of Los Angeles, CA; 2 great nephews, great niece, sister-in-law Della Redding of Kalamazoo, MI and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. All services at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Gary, IN.
