Matrie B. Ceaser

MATRIE B. CEASER "Beloved Wife and Mother" Gary, IN/Kalamazoo, MI Age 76, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 13, 2005. A native of Yazoo City, Mississippi. She moved to Gary in the 1950's and united with New Mount Moriah Baptist Church. In 1996 she moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan, and united with Galilee Missionary Baptist Church where she actively volunteered with the Missions as Assistant Chaplain, Hospitality, Mothers' Board and Food Pantry. She was a member of the Eastern Star Zorah Chapter No. 3, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation. She sat at the second point of the star "Ruth." She was employed with the Gary School System for 23 years. She was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Derrick, and one daughter, Daphane. Survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Louis Ceaser, Jr.; two daughters, Renee (Archie) Patterson of Gary and Valerie (James) Cox of Jacksonville, NC; three sons, Charles (Stephanie) Ceaser of San Jose, California, Michael (Rachelle) Ceaser of Gary, and Timothy (Deanna) Ceaser of Merrillville, IN; 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 stepdaughters, Linda Miller and Rita Roby; 2 daughters-in-law, Faye Ceaser and Cynthia Ceaser both of Gary, IN; loving cousin, Fannie Reid of Jackson, MS; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 20, 2005, at the Guy & Allen Funeral Home Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Avenue. Family hour 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Friday, October 21, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at New Mount Moriah Baptist Church, 1917 Carolina Street. Rev. W.N. Reed officiating.
