Mattie Lee Olive-Johnson, 94, of Madison, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Mattie was born June 10, 1926, in Madison, Mississippi, the daughter of late Murphy and Verlillian Mitchell Olive. She was the second born of 5 children. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1940 under the leadership of Rev. Jimmerson and Mt. Pleasant M. B. Church of Madison, MS. Mattie was a faithful member under the leadership of Rev. Keith Gayden until her passing. Her favorite song was "Think of His Goodness to You" and her favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm. Mattie would always say, "I depend on the good Lord". She married the late Fernice Johnson on July 3, 1947. In 1951 they moved to Gary, IN where she lived for forty years. Mattie united with Pilgrim M. B. Church and served God under the leadership of Rev. F. W. Coleman and Rev. Charles L. Emery she served as Secretary of Class B and the Ruth Circle Mission Ministry faithfully before returning to Mississippi in 1992. Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers Ceaser, Murphy, Cornelius, only sister Verlillian, and grandson, Kenneth Sr. Mattie is survived by her only son, Cornelius (Edna) Olive, grandchildren; Kirt ( Danya) Olive of Indianapolis, IN, Kimberly Olive of Gary, IN and Aleah Ursua of Madison, MS; 9 great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and grandchildren in love Terrence, Valerie, Ernestine and Teddia and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly and who she also dearly loved. Visitation Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 12 noon -8:00 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel 2959 West 11th Avenue in Gary, IN. and Friday February 12th, at 2:00pm at Peoples Undertaking in Canton, MS. Final resting place is Tyler Memorial Cemetery Madison, MS. Graveside service on Saturday February 13th ,2021 at 11:00am. Rev Keith Gayden Officiating, Pastor Mt. Pleasant M. B. Church Madison, MS.

My Mattie-

I will miss you more than words can say. Always encouraging, never judgmental. One of the kindest, sweetest, strongest people that I have ever known.. Your love for your family was unwavering and fervid. The words of wisdom that you blessed me with thru the years, shall remain with me forever.
