Please accept our condolences an the passing of Mr. Smith.

May his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

We remember Mr. Smith from our years in the St. Augustine Sunday School, where he was the Superintendant; and from our many visits with our mom, the late Rose Dunlap Dunn, at West Side High School, when he was principal.

We last visited with Mr. Smith in April, 2004, at St. Augustine, where he served as the lone acolyte at our Mom's memorial service.

Peace & blessings,

We will miss your father. He was a neighbor, an educator and a friend of our family. He will always be remembered by our community. He shared his experiences as a Tuskegee Airman with our church and he encouraged the youth at our church to work to the best of their potential and to never doubt their self worth. Growing up next door to your Aunt Geneva and your Uncle Roy brings back so many fond memories. He is now at peace with God and family. Lyles and Anderson families

To The Smith Family, Mr. Smith was the only man that I know that could make a path, just by walking down the halls and Surger Area of West Side. You would've thought he was Moses at the Red Sea. I love the respect that he made you feel you deserved. Smith family, I thank you for allowing him to be a part of my life. West Side Class of "73" God Bless you "Smith Family."

The old saying goes...they broke the mold when they made him. Quentin P. Smith was a man of honor and integrity. There will never be another one like him. When he walked the halls of West Side High School, he had the respect of students and teachers. I am glad I attended West Side when he was the principal, because he made it a safe environment where you could actually get a decent education. The schools in present day would be better off if we had more principals like Quentin P. Smith (or as we called him Q.P.). Rest in peace Mr. Smith, you will be missed.

Few people in life we meet have a life long impact over a city, state and a nation. I was always impressed with the way QP commanded respect in the school environment. He was a great administrator and a person. He would always have words of encouragement when he would see you doing positive things for the great West Side High School in the areas of acedemics or athletics. I no had idea who he really was from a historical stand point. Because he was very humble about the role he had played being a Tuskegee Airman. I am even more honored to know that I had a opportunity to have known historical greatness. You have completed your great walk of purpose and destiny. Thanks You will always be remembered.

To The Family,

QP is at peace. Think of the good times and smile. I didn't go to the Side back then but I did go to a lot of the dances, and there were times Mr Smith had to say something to us, and at that time we didn't realize that he was saying "sense" to us (smile). I never got the chance to tell him thank you and that I see what he was saying. For comfort read Ecclesiastes 3: 1-9,11-15,17,19,20,22. May God bring you comfort during this time.

We had greatness walking among us as an angel. Mr. Smith was a Tuskegee Airman but never lost the common touch. We have all been blessed to be in his presence, whether as a student, as a colleague or as a spectator. And to top it all off, he had one of those commanding voices. What a great symbol for all of us. What a legacy of greatness. And to top it all off, he never stopped working. May his family be comforted and may we all remember.
