Retha M. Ware, age 82, serenely passed away on September 15, 2021. She was born in Chidester, Arkansas and moved to Gary as a young child. She was a sweet and faithful Saint of Deliverance Temple COGIC and Lovefeast COGIC. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and employed at National Can Corporation and retired from AMTRAK. In her spare time, she loved to bake and made mouthwatering sweet potato pies and pound cakes, an avid exerciser, enjoyed walking and passionate of helping others in becoming physically fit. She was preceded in death by her parents: Johnnie and Veola Welch; son Leon Pryor Jr.; siblings: William (WC) Welch, Magedelene Hurt, Johnnie Welch Jr., Gregory Welch, and Elizabeth Abernathy. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving daughters: Vanessa Pryor of Belleville, Illinois and Melloniece Pryor of Gary, IN. Her siblings: Vera Flournoy, Betty Emery, Ernestine Murray and James Welch and a host of other relatives and friends.
