Robert Horace was born in Gary, IN on August 28, 1952, to the union of the late Robert, Sr. and Ruth Horace. He was the fourth child of what six children. Robert was very active in his childhood neighborhood and loved playing basketball with his friends. He often said if he would have remained true to the sport, he could have gone to the NBA. Robert was kind-hearted and was able to make friends easily. Robert developed a love for cutting hair and obtained his barber's license in the early 90's and continued to cut hair until his health began to fail, just months before his departure. Robert became a member of Van Buren Baptist Church in 1997; he was later ordained as a deacon. Robert was united in Holy Matrimony to his Soul Mate Mercedes Royletta in 2006.Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sr. and Ruth Horace, and his brother Roosevelt Horace. Robert leaves to celebrate and cherish his memory his devoted Soul Mate Mercedes Royletta Horace, two sons Anthony Horace of Florida and Robert DeAngelo Richardson of Minnesota; daughter VanTricia Lott of Terre Haute, IN; 14 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, 3 Sisters Roberta (William) Jordan, Rhetta Robinson, and Rose Marie (Wardell) Collins, one brother Reginald Henry (Leslie) Horace, all of Gary, IN, Special Friends since his youth- Larry & Patsy Payne, Juanita Bradley;God daughter Dionne Payne, and a myriad of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation Friday, December 11,2020 from 12 noon- 8:00p.m. Funeral Service Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. all service at the Guy & Allen Chapel 2959 West 11th Avenue. Rev Dwight Mobley Officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.

Sorry to hear of the passing of my beloved cousin. Praying for your wife,children and our family. I will never forget the love you shown to others your smile and those hugs when we would see one another. I know your road wasn't easy but God saw you were getting tired and came back and claimed his own. We all will miss your beautiful personality your smile but most of all miss you.
