Robert Lee Obituary

Lee M.D., Robert Y. 94, Valparaiso, died on February 17, 2013 in Houston, TX following a brief illness. Robert was born in Henan, China and immigrated to the United States in 1949 where he met Hsin Lan (Betty) Wang. They married July 17, 1954. He graduated from Lanzhou Medical School, and completed his internship at Pontiac General Hospital (Pontiac, Michigan); and general surgery residency at Wayne University Medical School (Detroit, Michigan) and St. Elizabeth Hospital (Lafayette, Indiana). After serving 2 years in the Public Health Service in South Dakota, Robert and Betty returned to Indiana. His first private medical practice was opened in DeMotte, Indiana in 1957. It was later moved to Valparaiso where he practiced for many years, retiring from practice in 1998. He was predeceased by his parents, Heting Lee and Jieh She Lee; sister, Xuemei Lee; and his wife, Betty. He is survived by son, Dr. David Lee (Karen) Houston, TX; daughter, Dr. Ruby Lee (Paul Zitterbart) Brownsburg, IN; great-niece, Marlene Ren (Zhi Lu) Glenview, IL; grandsons, Scott Lee, Steven Lee and Thomas Zitterbart. A private family service was held in Texas. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross or Valparaiso University (Chinese Studies).
