Robert Wayne Prohaska Sr.

ROBERT WAYNE PROHASKA SR. Age 74 of Portage, Indiana passed away Friday, November 28, 2003 at his home. Robert was born in Clinton, Indiana on June 16, 1929 to the late Jesse Alonzo Prohaska and Dorothea Ethel Alkire. On October 31, 1953 in Clinton, Indiana he married Lula Daves who resides in Portage, Indiana. Also survived by: sons, Robert (Renee) Prohaska Jr., of Salem, OH, and William (Melody) Prohaska of Valparaiso, IN; daughters, Debra (Donald) Wilson of Chesterton, IN, Marsha (Darryl) Galasso of Valparaiso, Cindy (Scott) Hughes of Portage, IN, and Susan Parnell (Jim) of Biloxi, MS; sisters, Dorothy Shannon of Clinton, IN and Carol (Gayel) Cooley of Sullivan, IN; 16 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and best buddy, Chucky of Portage, IN. Preceded in death by brothers, Verne Bennett, Tom Bennett, Ernest Prohaska, Frank Prohaska, Max Prohaska and James Bennett. He was an area resident since 1957 coming from Clinton, IN and was employed as a structural painter for American Bridge with 29 years of service, retiring in 1986. Robert received his G.E.D. from Portage High School in 1983, he was a member of the Porter Central Horseshoe League, and was inducted into the Horseshoe Hall of Fame on September 27, 1997. He was frequently sponsored by the American Legion & V.F.W. at various horseshoe events. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 30, 2003 from 2-8 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, Indiana. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 1, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, with Rev. O'Neil Stover officiating. Interment Chester-ton Cemetery, Chesterton, Indiana.
