"Bob"
Robert D. Thornberry "Bob", age 48 of Valparaiso, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010. Bob graduated from Hobart High School in 1980. He had worked for the Hobart and Westville Police Departments and was currently working for the Kouts Police Department. Bob enjoyed fishing, woodworking and having a good cup of coffee with his friends. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Susan Thornberry (nee Shirey) of Valparaiso; his mother, Agnes Thornberry of Hobart; brother-in-law, Gorden (Jan) Shirey; 3 sisters-in-law, Barb Workman, Debbie Luedtke, and Pam (Jim) Williams; mother and father-in-law, Les (Dorothy) Shirey; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Paul Thornberry. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 7:00 PM from the Kraft Funeral Services and Crematory, 370 N. County Line Road, Hobart with Pastor Nagy officiating. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Tuesday from 2-7 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Kouts Police Department.

I became the person I am today partially because Bob was such a great influence in my life. My memories of Bob are held in a very special place in my heart. I will continue telling the stories of our childhood together and will keep his spirit alive in my life forever.
