My memories of Sidney go back to the fifties when my brother, DuBois and I, were invited to a sleep over at Aunt Mae's house. Sidney was always the leader, and she treated us as if we were her children. We played games, read books, played with her dog, and ate snacks. We were treated like celebrities. Aunt Mae and Sidney provided such a warm loving, comfortable environment.
Years later, my then fiance' and I would run into Sidney while out with her son. We saw Sidney at The Lincoln Park Zoo, we saw her at McCormick Place where the Ringling Brothers Circus was appearing. Those kids were so fortunate to have Sidney as their Aunt. She took them everywhere.
Sidney took me under her wings teaching me how to be a gentleman and treat young ladies with great respect. Her faith in God was ever present and her life reflected it.
My wife Gloria and I were always happy to visit Sidney at she and Jessie's home in Palm Springs and she visited us in our home in Southern California.
Sidney, Gloria and I miss you and our love continues.

Sorry to hear of her passing. She took me under her wing in high school. She made a very shy, introverted student feel special. God rest her beautiful soul.
