Viola Kindred

VIOLA KINDRED Gary, Indiana Age 86 years, of Gary, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, November 20, 2006, after a short illness. She was born on September 18, 1920, to the late Telis and Leola Myhand of Opelika, Alabama. She was the youngest of fourteen children. On March 20, 1940, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Louis V. Kindred, Sr., and to this union five children were born. Viola was a Gary resident for 63 years, formerly of Opelika, Alabama. She was a faithful member of New Revelation Baptist Church, Mothers' Board and Dorcus Mission Circle; an employee of General Overalls and Sears. Viola was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 63 years, Louis V. Kindred Sr.; eight brothers and five sisters. She is survived by 3 sons: Louis V. (Mary) Kindred Jr., Steve Kindred, both of Gary, IN, and Ronald Kindred of Las Vegas, NV; 2 daughters: Geraldine Kindred of Atlanta, GA, and Ernestine (John) Johnson of Portage, MI; 9 loving grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 brother-in-law, Hunter Kindred of Opelika, AL; 6 sisters-in-law: Recola Lockhart of Opelika, AL, Grenada Myhand, Princie Kindred, and Rosemary Kindred, all of Gary, IN, Lora Brown of Niles, OH, and Blanniel Mitchell of Warren, OH; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. The Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2006, from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. with Family Hour from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Smith, Bizzell and Warner, 4209 Grant St., Gary, Indiana. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. at New Revelation Baptist Church, 3011 West 21st Avenue, Gary, Indiana.
