Allen Cook Obituary

Allen "Al" Cook

Little Chute - Allen "Al" Cook, Little Chute, age 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, surrounded by his family after a short but courageous battle with Lung Cancer. He was born in Gardner, Massachusetts on May 27, 1942 to the late Charles and Irene (Allen) Cook. After one year at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Al served four years in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Hawaii. Earlier in his life Al worked as a Sales Engineer for Johnson Controls, and later drove for Fox Valley Cab and NM Expedited. Al married Shirley Hyden on June 9, 1995 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Appleton, Wisconsin.

As a huge sports fanatic, Al spent lots of time with family, especially his wife Shirley following many different teams, but his heart was definitely with the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers. He was a loyal supporter and one of the biggest fans at his Grandchildren's sporting events. He thoroughly enjoyed watching the nightly news, keeping up on current events, playing cards, and word games. His dog Lucy, his constant companion, never left his side.

Al is survived by his wife of 23 years, Shirley, and his 3 children from a previous marriage: Lisa (Dan) Getsfried, Laura (Jeff) Sedo and Brian (Shelley) Cook, all of Appleton; step children: Paul (Margaret) Hyden of Washington DC and Steven (Valerie) Hyden of New Hope, MN; grandchildren: Tyler (Katrina) Getsfried and Cassidy (Matt Prom) Getsfried, Autumn Sedo, Logan Cook; great grandson: Kip Getsfried; step grandchildren: Henry and Rosemary Hyden, and Sixten Hyden; brother and sister: Charlie and Irene Cook; and beloved dog, Lucy. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Al was preceded in death by his sisters: Jeanette, Nancy, Betty and Pat; his brother: Bob, and his aunt Edith.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 12, 2018 at GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH (2220 E. College Ave. Appleton) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Timothy Seabaugh will officiate. Military honors, conducted by the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319 and American Legion Post 41, will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. To sign the guest book, please visit oconnellfh.com.

Our hearts are broken but we find comfort in knowing you are now at peace in heaven.
