Arleen Semrow Obituary
Arleen Semrow, age 93, passed away at Cherry Meadows Hospice, following a brief illness. Arleen was born at home in Outagamie County on March 27, 1920, daughter of the late Oscar and Marie (Schultz) Popp. On October 4, 1939, she married Ewald Semrow; he preceded her in death in 1990. Many will remember Arleen for her years of working in the kitchen at Fox Valley Lutheran High School, playing cards at the Thompson Community Center, and her Appleton Homemakers club. Arleen was a member of Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church in Appleton for 65 years, and was a member of their Ladies Aid.
Arleen leaves behind six grandchildren: Bryan (Jane) Semrow of Appleton; Keith (Diane) Semrow of Missouri; Laurie (Mark) Gorshe of Freedom; Tracy McKeever of Hortonville; Todd (Kari) Dombrowski of Freedom; and Wendy (Craig) Baumgart of Freedom. There are also eighteen great-grandchildren: Sarah, Heather, Jordan, Oliver, Nathaniel, Matthew, Katie, Amanda, Cody, Dylan, Dawn, Gabrielle, Hunter, Brooke, Miranda, Devin, Travis, and Levi; two great-great-grandchildren: Makyla and Ezra; a son-in-law: Eugene (Elizabeth) Dombrowski of Freedom; and a former daughter-in-law: Jan Krause of Appleton. Arleen was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Dawn Dombrowski, sons Larry and Arlo Semrow, a sister LaVern Desten, and brothers Jerome and Arthur Popp.
The Christian Funeral Service for Arleen will be held at 5:30 PM on Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri County Chapel, 1592 Oneida Street in Menasha, with Rev. Ronald Ash officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 3:00 PM until the time of the service at 5:30 PM.
Memorial contributions may be either Bethany Ev. Lutheran Church or Fox Valley Lutheran High School. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.
