Christopher Leurquin Obituary

Christopher M. Leurquin, 39 of the Town of Lawrence passed away unexpectedly on Saturday evening December 10, 2011 due to an automobile accident. The youngest son of Donald and Kathleen (Massart) Leurquin, he was born on August 7, 1972 into a very loving family. Chris was a 1990 graduate of Ashwaubenon High School where he was active in Cross Country, Baseball, and Basketball. He then attended UW Madison and graduated from there in 1995. On April 5, 2003 he was united in marriage to Tammy Dercks at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family in De Pere. Chris was employed at Schneider National for over 15 years, and for the last year at Maverick Transportation in sales. He was an avid Badger and Packer fan, and loved to golf, he even ran his first half marathon this year. Chris looked forward to the yearly "Bear Lake" trip, where he won the Euchre trophy this year. Above all it was spending time with Tammy and the kids that gave him his greatest joy, he even referred to his children as "Pride One, and Pride Two". Whether it be playing trains and baseball with Brady or dancing and having a tea party with Miranda, his children were his pride and joy.

He is survived by his loving wife Tammy, his children; Miranda and Brady, his parents Don and Kathleen, his siblings; Greg (Roshiel) Leurquin, Bellevue, Doug Leurquin, Indonesia, and Kay (Jeff) Vogels, Town of Lawrence, his inlaws; Mike (Barb) Dercks, Sobieski, and Tammy's siblings; Kim Suess, Krakow, Renee Engels, Sobieski, Mike (Stacey) Dercks, Chase. Chris' nieces and nephews were also very important to him; Lindsay, Morgan, Noelle, Lucky, Levi, Zach, Austin, Michaela, Kaylie, Gabby, Evie, and Teagen, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his Bear Lake Buddies; Andy, Bob, Dave, Steve, Joe, and Kip.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Milton and Mary Leurquin, and Charles and Emily Massart.

Friends may call at the Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family corner of Lourdes Ave. and Suburban Drive in De Pere from 4 - 9 pm Wednesday. A parish prayer service will be held a 4pm. A time to share stories about Chis will be held at 8pm. Visitation for Chris will continue after 10am Thursday at the church until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm with Fr. Tim Shillcox O.Praem, Fr. Jim Massart, and Deacon Mike VanderBloomen officiating. Please go to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established. The family would like to thank Officer Dan VanLanen, Officer Charlie Leiterman, as well as the Maverick, Schneider, and Thrivent communities, and all of the friends for the outpouring of support and love. The RYAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY is assisting the family.

We truly lost a good guy. I have many fond memories of Chris in school and recently in friendly conversation in passing. Chris was always a pleasure to talk to and he seemed to live his life enjoying this world and all its wonders. Chris's glass was certainly always half-full. We must never forget that tragedy looms and we should live for today. I think Chris did a pretty good job enjoying and loving all that he surrounded himself with. It had been a few years since I had seen Chris but recently I had been running into him more often and he always seemed to get an excited, proud, almost glowing expression when he talked about his kids and family. My deepest sympathy and condolences to Chris's family. The world may have lost a lot, but the heavens gained so much more. May god bless you and guide you during these difficult days.

The Leurquin Family,
The Schneider Finance team was fortunate to have Chris for over 15 years. He was committed and truly cared about the company and the associates that he worked with. It was apparent from his accomplishments. But more importantly, he was a friend. He made us laugh. It was a joy to be with him. May God be with you during this difficult time.
