Schroder, Daniel C.
Daniel C. Schroder, 72, of Eau Claire, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 24th after a brave battle with cancer. Dan accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a Lowell Lundstrom Crusade in the 1970's and attended the Eau Claire Wesleyan Church.
He was born March 8th, 1943 in Appleton Wisconsin to Charles and Lenore (Carbon) Schroder. After graduating from Appleton High School in 1961, he joined the Air Force and served honorably and proudly as an airborne electronics mechanic. He met Melinda Pearson while stationed in Duluth, MN and they married on November 16th, 1963. Shortly thereafter he accepted a position as a Customer Service Representative for E.O. Johnson Co. of Eau Claire where he worked for 43 years until his retirement. He also worked part time for nine years at Wilbur's Texaco on South Hastings Way.
Dan Schroder is survived by the wife he loved for 51 years, Linda; two daughters, Kristin (Reverend Todd) Arneson, Kaci (Misty) Campbell, his sister, Liz (Steve) Landig of Neenah Wi, five grandchildren, Shannon (Tom) Beauchamp, Bailee (Zabdiel) Morillo, Brianna, Zachary, and Bethany Arneson, three great-grandchildren, Rebekah and Connor Beauchamp and Sofia Morillo, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by the two little dogs that he loved so much, Janie and Dozer.
Dan was an avid Packer fan who enjoyed yelling at the TV during games, especially during the Favre years. He dearly loved being a father and grandfather and made it a priority of his life to be at every possible event regardless of how far away it may have been. He enjoyed helping anyone with any project and would take a week of vacation to do it. Dan was a generous man who gave his time and his life to others. He was the primary sound man at the Eau Claire Wesleyan Church for over 20 years where he was also the roadie and bus driver for the traveling youth musical group, The 2nd Mile. Dan and his wife Linda were "Mom and Dad" to many teenagers and young adults. They were cool that way.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Leonore Schroder and his nephew Greg Landig.
A celebration of the life of Dan Schroder will be at 11 am on Wednesday, July 29th, at the Wesleyan Church, 2405 Keith Street, Eau Claire, WI with Reverend Todd Arneson officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 28th, 5-7 pm also at the church, and one hour prior to the service. Full military honors will conclude the service with internment to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family are invited to donate in his name directly to one of the causes that Dan consistently supported: The Eau Claire County Humane Association, 3900 Old Town Hall Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701 or Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517 Topeka, KA, 66675.
