David Zobel Obituary

David M. Zobel

68, Menasha, passed away Monday Jan. 6, 2014 at Manor Care Nursing Home surrounded by his family following a short battle with cancer. Dave was born August 29, 1945 in Green Bay, WI to Harrison and Lois (Burmeister) Zobel. Dave enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served two tours during the Vietnam War. He married Kathleen Unmuth in 1989 and was a truck driver for many years and member of the Local Teamsters. David enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends up north.

He is survived by his mother, Lois Kracht, Manitowoc; wife, Kathy Zobel, Menasha; children: Robbie (Tina) Zobel, William (Alecia) Verhagen; Kristin Zobel; Holly (Jamie VandeBurgt) Hoehne; Jennifer (Christian) Rottier and Alexandria (Matthew) Banick; 9 grandchildren: Shyana, Jordan, Cody, Kailey, Juliana, Madelynn, Walker, Trip and Reece; 2 great grandchildren: Zander and Skylynn; one brother, James (Sandy) Zobel and many nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Harrison Zobel, step-father, Walter Kracht; a son Michael and a brother, Steven.

Funeral services for Dave will be held at 7 pm, Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at the Brettschneider Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel with Doug Newhouse officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Appleton. Friends may visit the family from 4 - 7 pm Thursday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established. A special thank you to the staffs of Theda Clark Hospital, Appleton Medical Center and Manor Care Nursing Home for their care of David.

Dear Zobel Family,
Dave was in my graduating class of '64 and we grew up in the same neighborhood.During our high school years Dave and I were close friends and sometimes double dated. He was a good person and I am so sorry for your loss. I hope that all the good memories will help to ease the pain.
