Duane Tervola Obituary
Duane Marshall "Dewey" Tervola, age 66, passed away on September 1, 2013. He was born in Wadena, MN, on January 10, 1947 to Marshall and Lucille (Redetzke) Tervola. He graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1965 and Dunwoody Institute, Minneapolis, MN. He married Bridget Lemar on December 7, 1974 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Appleton, WI. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge with his family and watching his daughters grow to be exceptional women. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, who were the apples of his eyes. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and four wheeling. It was a necessity for him to always have a project to work on; from deck building, to a dune buggy or his own electronics. When his body no longer allowed him to work on the physical projects, he still found ways to keep his mind active and share his knowledge with others. His family will always remember him as a genius.
Duane is survived by his wife, Bridget, three daughters: Niki (Casey) O'Brien, Menasha, Kelli Tervola, Menasha, and Michelle (Michael Cleary) Tervola, Milwaukee, WI; two granddaughters, whom he loved and adored, Trista and Kira; brothers and sisters-in-law: Terry and Pat Lemer and their family, Albert Lea, MN, Joann and Dennis Rhone and their family, Cooperstown, ND, Tim and Carol Lemar and their family, Minot, ND, Henry and Betty Lemar and their family, Minot, ND, Charles Lemar and his family, Bismarck, ND, Neal and Sue Lemar and their family, Minot, ND, Dora and Jim Jenson and their family, Dickinson, ND and Lora and Rod Hill and their family, Bismarck, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Owen Anderson and mother and father-in-law, Florence and Henry Lemar.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Karvonen Funeral Home, 110 S. Broadway, PO Box K, New York Mills, MN 56567; friends and family may visit at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, New York Mills, MN.
Goodbye Papa, we miss you and love you. We will see you in Heaven.

Dear Bridget and Girls,
Sorry to read about the loss of your husband/father/grandpa. He was such a nice man. I always enjoyed talking with you both when you came to my classroom for conferences. I knew Duane before he was married and he was always very kind to me. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

My heart goes out to all of you during this difficult time. I'll never forget the tons of memories made over at the Tervola house growing up. Kelli and Michelle- although it was years ago when we had sleepovers and made up dance routines to Britney Spears and haven't been in touch, I still think of you guys every now and again. You'll remain in my thoughts and prayers while time eases the pain. <3
