Winkler, Erika M.

Erika M. Winkler, age 17 of Appleton, fell asleep December 29, 2016 at her home. She was born January 28, 1999 in Neenah to John and Julie (Bourke) (Jackson) Winkler.

Erika loved to hunt with her dad and family. She enjoyed swimming, country music, her big truck, spending time with the cows on her favorite farm, theater, dance, playing guitar and piano. She loved God's Word and fellowship. Erika was a member of the Appleton Police Explorers. She made everyone smile and always helped people. She loved all her family and friends, it showed through with her beautiful smile, laughter and sense of humor.

Erika is survived by her parents; John and Julie, her brothers, Earl Jackson (fiancée: Amber Siebel), Adam Winkler and Cory Jackson; grandmother; Carol Winkler, her special niece: Kylie Knox and many, many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends. She was so loved by so many and nothing will ever fill that void.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers; Carl Winkler and James Miller.

My son met your beautiful daughter at Country USA last summer. He has fond memories of the camping, bon fires, parking cars, great music, comraderie, etc. with all of the Appleton Explorers. Our hearts pour out love and prayers from the Milwaukee area. May God bless and keep you close through these difficult times. She is in His arms, smiling, happy and at peace.

Julie and Family

I know we haven't seen each other except in passing at dance recitals for quite awhile but I had to reach out. Even though I can't even begin to imagine your pain, as a mother I am dying inside for you. I wanted you to know I am praying for you all. She was a beautiful girl and I am sure will be dearly missed. I believe she is now in heaven and will be with you in spirit forever until you meet again. May God bless you and comfort you in the days to come. If you ever need someone to talk to you can find me on Facebook or Messenger.

Julie, John, and family,

I am so very sorry for your tremendous loss! I can't find words that could possibly ease your pain during this time, and only hope that you can take comfort in being blessed with Erika for her short time here on our Earth and in knowing that she is resting peacefully and smiling among the other angels.

Although Erika was not my student, I did get to know her at Kaleidscope Academy, where she was "happy-go-lucky" and always smiling!

My sincere sympathy to you, your family, and the many who were fortunate enough to call Erkia "friend."

Many months ago we took an immediate liking and admiration toward Erika as regular visitors to Apple City Restaurant and she was beginning her work there. We loved Erika and we hit it off from day one with her. We knew her aspirations and affectionately referred to her as "Officer Winkler" with a promise that she would give us a warning and not a ticket as a first offense. We love you Erika and we pray for you and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. We met when my son William was dating Erika after a choir concert. My daughter Emmy was her "Secret Santa" in choir this year the week before Christmas. Erika was a beautiful girl, and my heart aches for all of your family. Nothing, not even death, will separate Erika from God. She is glowing in his hands now.
