Glenda Harris Obituary

Glenda Lee Harris, 82, passed away June 19, 2014 from complications of Alzheimer's. Glenda departed peacefully, surrounded by her family. She was born July 30, 1931 in Norfolk, Nebraska as the only child of Kendall and Stella (Sally) Johnson. November 8, 1949 she married Jack and was married 30 years until Jack passed away in October 1979. She is preceded in death by her husband Jack, their oldest child Steven and her parents. She was cremated and she wished for her ashes to be combined with Jacks, and scattered in Alaska. She is survived by her children; daughters Judy (Mark) Greenough, Kelly (Randy) Huffman; sons Randy (Sheila), Tracy, Tony (Jodi); 18 Grandchildren, and 5 Great-grand Children. Longtime friends, Margaret McDaniel, Mel & Jeannie Husa and family, and Joy Higgins. The family would like to thank everyone at Anchorage Pioneer Home who took great care of their mom. The family would like for everyone to join then in a celebration of life July 30, 2014 6:30 PM to 8:30PM at the Viking Hall 8141 Briarwood in Anchorage. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made, on her behalf, to Alzheimer's of Alaska or Anchorage Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Growing up in Rogers Park, I loved going over to my friend Kelly's house. It was alot of fun being around the Harris family and Kelly's mom Glenda was a big part of that. I am so glad to have those memories.

We always had a "Blast" bowling and having our parties in Glenda's backyard. Glenda had a beautiful heart and a giving soul. We will remember her wonderful smile, be at peace lovely lady! Love Jack & Heidi
