Irene Borree

Kaukauna - Irene Thelma Borree, age 98, of Kaukauna, went to her heavenly home on July 5, 2021. Irene was born July 18, 2022, on a small farm in Navarino, Wisconsin to the late Carl and Ida (Christianson) Johnson. Irene was baptized and confirmed at Norwegian Lutheran Church in Navarino. As a child, Irene walked two miles on a gravel road to attend a one room schoolhouse. She graduated from Shawano High School in 1941.

After World War II, Irene met her soulmate, Arthur Hugo Borree. They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church, Kaukauna, on June 29, 1946, and celebrated 58 years together. Their marriage was blessed with five children and three grandchildren.

Irene is survived by Sons; Ronald (Debbie) Borree, Timothy (Linda) Borree, Grandchildren; Kayla and Shane, Daughter; Nancy (John) Farrelly and Granddaughter; Colleen. She is also survived by her Sister-In-Law; Jane Johnson. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Irene is proceeded in death by her Parents; Husband; In-Laws; Son; Dennis, Daughter; Mary, Brothers; Elmer and Harvey Johnson, Sister and Brother-In-Law, Sylvia (Henry) Van Deraa; Brothers and Sister-In-Laws; Elizabeth (Hugo) Deno, Otto (Alice), Herman (Alexia), Alfred, Walter (Caroline), Harry (Ruth), Ruben, Louis (Rose), Ray (Janet), Ralph and Mildred (Bob) Beford.

Irene enjoyed baking many birthday cakes, countless happy times in her garden and at the cabin, making her house a home, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, neighbors and relatives. Irene's door was always open to visitors. She was a mom and grandma to many people.

Irene was passionate about the need for medical research and was part of the Scripps Wellderly Study- to help uncover genetic secrets behind lifelong health leaving her legacy behind for further generations.

The memorial service for Irene will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the VERKUILEN VAN DEURZEN FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 until the time of the service at the funeral home. A private Internment will be in the Ascension Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. Irene loved being out in nature with her hands in the dirt. Plants or flowers would be appreciated. Contributions may also be made in memory of Irene Thelma Borree to St. Paul Elder Services.

The family would like to thank the Paris and Kempen families for their love and support over the years. Thank you also to Candace, Amy, Dr. Danz and staff, St. Paul's rehab and Primrose Lane for all the compassion and care given to Irene.
