I have too many adjectives for my memories of Jim: intelligent, incisive, knowledgeable, warm, friendly, good-natured, committed, generous, dependable, calm, ... Altogether, a man of integrity I'll miss, and his community will miss him as well. His support of Menasha's Library was dependable, whether through the Library Board of Trustees or the Common Council.

When I was on the Board of United Way, we hired Jim as our first liaison with organized labor in the Fox Valley. Jim was always poised and thoughtful in this position. As the years went by I saw him get more and more involved and known in the community. He made a real contribution. Jeff Zdrale

Our thoughts and prayers are with your entire family. We enjoyed visiting with Jim at many SMCS functions. Our greatest memory is his pure joy when talking about his daughter Clare who we know as coach and teacher. We are sorry for your loss and pray you have a chance to celebrate his life and the many memories you share. Love, The Roloff Family and SMCHS Soccer Team

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Englebert family. Jim's service to his community was always a priority in his life as was demonstrated by his involvement as both a City Council member and President of the Menasha Library Board. I always looked forward to and respected his opinions and his approach when dealing with many of the city's issues. He was truly appreciated and respected as an elder statesman of Menasha. Through his love of and commitment to Menasha, he made it a better place. Sincerely, Alderman James Taylor

I would like to extend our condolences from Madison Public Library to the Englebert family. While Kevin worked at MPL, we had the opportunity to learn about Jim’s passion for public libraries and his service as a trustee. I know Jim was extremely proud that his son could contribute his talents to a public library. Our sincerest sympathies to the family and our special thanks to Jim for his dedication and service to public libraries. I am reminded of the quote by Jorge Luis Borges, “I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.”

Apparently, God has plans for you. I will treasure the memories and conversations we had over the years, both when we worked together and when we just ran into each other out and about in the community. Thanks for always lending a helping hand when needed or at least knowing who to call to get the job done. We'll do our best to carry on as you taught us. Rest in peace!
