James Helser Obituary

Helser, James E.

James "Jim" Edward Helser, age 59, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at his residence. He suffered a massive stroke on December 23, 2012, but recovered remarkably. He was born on June 1, 1955, in New London son of Leslie and Lenora (Schroth) Helser. Jim graduated from Shiocton High School in 1973. On October 16, 1981, he was united in marriage to Vicki Pingel at St. John's United Church of Christ, Black Creek. Jim and Vicki bought the family homestead on June 1, 1984, and dairy farmed until February of 2010 when they sold the cows. Jim and his family continued to farm as cash croppers. On a typical fall Sunday, farming would come to a halt to be seated in front of the Packer game. He enjoyed taking drives in the countryside, watching his son's race 4-wheelers, tractor pulling and caring for animals, especially his cows and dog Pepper.

Jim is survived by his wife Vicki; sons Michael (special friend, Kara Van Straten), Bradley (Fiancée, Leslie Kent), Jeffrey (special friend, Megan Steve), and Joshua (special friend, Stacey Krull); grandchildren, Kayden and Mason; siblings: Janet (Steven) Witthuhn, Audrey (Harold) Young, William (Carole) Helser, Donald (Dale) Helser and Susan (Leonard) Clausen; father and mother in-law, Roy (Verla) Pingel; brother and sister in-laws, Allan (Laura) Pingel, Steven (Cheryl) Pingel and Duane (Amy) Pingel. He is further survived by aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Gerald and Joseph.

Funeral Mass for Jim will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Denis Catholic Church, Shiocton with Fr. Charlie Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday at the Borchardt & Moder Funeral home in Shiocton from 4-8 p.m. and also at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Helser Family, James was far to young for this to happen.

So Sorry for you loss, I will never forget when 4K Mrs. Behling's class came to visit the farm when the twins were 4 years old. They were so proud of their Dad's farm and Mom's cookies too. I don't know who had bigger smiles, the twins or Jim. May God find a place for Jim to harvest in heaven and give all of you grace through this difficult time.

I will always remember Jim as the proud farmer as he welcomed 4k Mrs. Behling's class to visit the farm when the twins were 4years old. I will never forget the smiles on their faces when they showed us how proud they were of their Dad's farm. Only I don't know who's smile I will remember more, Jim's or the boys. Jim's was pretty big. May God find a place for Jim to harvest in heaven and give you all grace during this difficult time.
