Strelka, James "Jim"

James "Jim" Strelka, age 87, of Freedom passed away on March 16, 2013 at home. He was born on March 24, 1925, in Milwaukee, son of the late Raymond and Lillian (Hallada) Strelka. On September 10, 1949 he was united in marriage to Rosemary Mc Cormick at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom and shared 63 years of marriage.

Jim was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Jim and his wife operated a dairy farm in Freedom. He cherished his independence as a lifelong dairy farmer until his retirement at the age of 74. Jim was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed watching Nascar racing with Kyle Busch being his favorite driver.

Jim and Rosemary spent many winters at their second home in Arizona with his sister Katy.

He is survived by his wife Rosemary and four sons: James (Diane), Appleton; Steve (Becky), Freedom; Robert (Lisa), Kaukauna; and Tom (Vicki), Appleton. Also survived by six grandchildren: Brad (Stacie) Strelka, Jamie (Jason) Daily, Brent (Vicki) Strelka, Jackie (Greg) Schmidt, Bryan (fiancée Alissa Schoen) Strelka, and Justin Strelka; seven great-grandchildren: Zachary and Kailah Daily, Kelsey and Abigail Schmidt, Hayden and Logan Strelka, and Gage Strelka. Further survived by a sister Katy Reed, Queen Creek, AZ; and sister-in-law Jane Mc Cormick, Green Bay; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ron Reed, Quin Crager, Mary (Merritt) Kavanaugh, Anne (Louis) Hoskens, Floyd (Dorothy Burton) McCormick, and Bob McCormick.

Friends may call at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Freedom, on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 9 am until the Mass of Christian burial at 11 am with Fr. Dan Felton officiating. Entombment will take place at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, is assisting the family with arrangements.
