Janet Kempf

Fremont - Janet M. Kempf, age 78, of Fremont, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at her home. She was born on May 14, 1939 in the Town of Poy Sippi, the daughter of the late Tony and LaVerne (Schmude) Olsen. On May 16, 1959, Janet married Le Roy Kempf in Borth. Together they farmed in the Town of Bloomfield for many years while she worked in bookeeping roles for several companies including Production Credit Association and M&I Bank. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Weyauwega and was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in East Bloomfield. Janet and Le Roy enjoyed traveling internationally and were able to visit many countries. Janet's family was very important to her and she spent a lot of time taking care of her children and grandchildren. She served on the Board for the Waushara County Department of Aging, was a 4H leader, enjoyed knitting and playing in the handbell choir at St. Peter. Janet is survived by her husband of 58 years, Le Roy; four children, Kathy(Randy)Cook, Necedah; Gene(Kathy)Kempf, Greenville; Merry Lee Lison, DePere; and Jill(Joe)VanLyssel, Fremont; six grandchildren, Adam(Vanessa)Cook, Derek Kempf, Andrew Cook, Erin, Nick and Luke VanLyssel; two great-grandchildren, Jayden Vanderhoof and Annie Cook; a sister, Marion Vanderloop, Kaukauna; a brother-in-law, Arnold(Gen)Kempf, Weyauwega; and a step-brother-in-law, Wally(Kay)Niemuth, Weyauwega; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Gene; a son-in-law, Matt Lison; two brothers-in-law, Norman Vanderloop and Kenneth Kempf; a sister-in-law, LaVerna(Elmer)Schuelke; and a step-brother-in-law, Vernon(Alice)Niemuth. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 312 W. Main St., Weyauwega. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9AM until the time of the service. Rev. Dennis Lemke will officiate. Burial will be in East Bloomfield Cemetery.
