Jeffrey Whiteside Obituary
Dr. Jeffrey Whiteside, age 63, passed away recently in Door County, Wisconsin. He was born in Iowa City, Iowa on May 7, 1952. He was the son of the late Robert and Maxine (Fieg) Whiteside. Jeff graduated from Sioux City Central High School and entered the University of Iowa where he received both an undergraduate and later a graduate degree in medicine. He married Kathi Amick; together the couple shared 42 years together and were blessed with three children and five grandchildren.
Jeff is survied by his wife: Kathi Whiteside of Appleton; three children, Matthew (Sarah) of Delafield and their children Penelope and Wesley; Julianna (Dan) Corderman of Sun Prairie and their children Drew and Morgan; and Andrea (Jeno) Cataldo of Fox Point and their child Gianni. He is survied by three siblings, his in-laws, and many nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at Appleton's FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 724 E. South River Street at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 31, 2015. For more information please visit www.wichmannfargo.com.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be directed to Headwaters Search and Rescue and sent to PO Box 332, Eagle River, WI 54521. Jeff is a shy, private man who loved his patients, his friends, his children, his grandchildren and his wife. Rest in peace physician. Rest in peace friend. Rest in peace Dad. Rest in peace Papa. Rest in peace Husband.

There is not a year that has passed since 2015 that I haven't thought of Dr. Whiteside. He was my person. The best physician I have ever had the honor to work with. I pray that he knew how much I cared about him. I can still hear his voice and greeting. To the family of Dr. Whiteside, I was so sorry to hear about his death. I worked in the Microbiology lab @ AMC until 1988, and I still remember him. He was a kind, gifted doctor.

Such a loss....so sorry for his friends and family. I worked with Dr Whiteside at AMC in the pulmonary unit for 3 yrs. Great bedside manner, thorough, friendly and was patient with the nurses he worked with. Dr. you will greatly missed by all. RIP...

When I think of Dr.Whiteside, I picture his white coat, WOW (workstation on wheels), coffee cup, and smile. His kindness, gentle voice, and warm personality made our "situations" always easier (whatever they were). He almost always went immediately to the coffee pot upon entering the ICU . And ALWAYS willing to teach and explain things we didn't understand or didn't know (I remember years ago being a new ICU nurse & loving when he was working). Dr. Whiteside gave so much to so many. Thank you Kathi & kids for the sacrifices you made to allow him to do what he did. Sincerely sorry for your loss - he will be remembered & honored. It was a beautiful service.You are all in my prayers.

For all the times during these past 30 years we had the pleasure of having you call the Microbiology department regarding your patient's care, you were always a kind and pleasant voice to hear.

I am a nurse, he had taken care of both my parents with such compassion, and was always there for me. He was the most genuine, loving, gentle, brilliant doctor I've had the privilege to get to know. We will miss one of the kindest and gentlest physicians this world will ever know. I personally learned so much from such a wonderful MD early in my nursing career that I have carried through over the last 30 years. The Lord has welcomed him with open arms. I am deeply saddened by our loss of such a caring and skilled doctor. Dr Whiteside has been a friend, confidante, teacher and someone I always looked forward to seeing on the unit. He truly cared about the patients, nurses and the quality of care. He was "old school", as I say. As am I. We understood each other. I will continue to practice as I always have and carry on his legacy of caring for the patient first and foremost. I will see him again someday and maybe he will help me understand. My sympathies to all family members, patients, coworkers and members of his practice... all who are so deeply touched by what has happened. God Bless you and keep you, Dr Whiteside.

Dr. Whiteside is a amazing doctor person. Always put a smile on my face when I came in for my visits. When I had issues with my medication he always helped me understand the importanance of it and why it was needed. When I had to stop seeing him as my doctor I felt complete emptiness. But never forgot him and all the wonderful things he did for me. I stated seeing him when I was 13 years old back in 1985 until 2008 when I switched insurance 23 years of Dr. Whiteside taking such wonderful care of me such a amazing compassionate doctor. I sent him a thank you card thanking him for all he has done for me over all those wonderful years. I missed him and will miss him even more now.
