I am so sorry to hear of Joe's passing. He was unfailingly understanding and supportive of the Children's Center! I never knew Joe was from Seymour. I graduated from Seymour High as well. Sandy Kust

Over the years my interaction with Joe was limited to brief "how is it going" type of conversations when we would happen to cross paths in Reeve Union. He always struck me as a warm, friendly, caring person. Never had a bad work to say about anyone. Had a great smile. He will be missed greatly on campus.

After laughing uncontrollably at your remarks at Jim Chitwood's retirement reception, I remember requesting your stand up comedy services for student events! And while I have so many similar memories, in which your humor lit up the room, the memories closest to my heart are those of a very serious Joe, genuinely listening to student concerns and advocating on their behalf. While you were too humble, and held yourself to unreasonable expectations at times, please know your impact was extraordinary.

A man of integrity, Joe was one of my best friends on campus. He lived by the motto "Put others first," and he demonstrated this graciously for both faculty and students.

Although he will be missed; he will never be forgotten. He will always be remembered with a smile or a chuckle; it is impossible to have really known Joe and not smile about him. Just the thought of him, his personality, all the quips and jokes make me smile even now. Joe never cared much about leaving a legacy, but I know he did anyway. I know his legacy will be all the times he makes me and everyone else he knew smile whenever we think of him and all of the times that smile makes our day just a little bit brighter.

Joe was a wonderful person and I am grateful to say that I knew him well during my time at UW Oshkosh. When I first met Joe in a parking meeting, I left feeling so mad at him… Soon after I started working with Joe very often and quickly learned how difficult of a job he truly had. Working with Joe soon became a pleasure and I am proud of the friendship we created. Students at UW Oshkosh often do not realize the impact that Joe has had on our campus and the legacy in which he leaves behind. I am saddened by the news of his passing and offer my condolences to Joe's family and the UW Oshkosh community during this difficult time. I will always remember you Joe and hope to emulate your grace and dignity in the work that I do with students in the future. Thanks for the time we had together.

I worked with Joe for ten years prior to retiring as Police Chief at UW Oshkosh (Director of Protective Services). Joe was one of those 2 or 3 people you meet in life that always could bring a smile to your face. I'll never forget his sense of humor, and ability to find some small silver lining in every situation. My condolences to Joe's family.

As a retired member of the Oshkosh Admissions Office I will always be grateful for how Joe helped us year after year. We pray for him and for all of his family at this most difficult time.
