Joseph Javenkoski Obituary

Joseph J. "Joe" Javenkoski

Joseph Javenkoski, 77, of Appleton, was called to Heaven unexpectedly on Saturday, April 26, 2014 after a short illness. Joe was born in Three Lakes on February 21, 1937 to the late Joseph and Sophie (Kulinski) Javenkoski. After graduating from Three Lakes High School, he served in the US Army during peacetime from 1960-62 as an active duty demolition specialist, followed by several years in the Reserves. On December 1, 1962, Joe married the love of his life, Ann Marie Bronk, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rhinelander. He worked for Allis Chalmers (Metso) for 38 years and retired in 2000 as a maintenance supervisor. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, a regular walker at Fox River Mall, and member of the ROMEO club. Joe was a talented woodcrafter, and many family members will cherish his hand-crafted cabinets and gifts. He enjoyed fishing, photography, technology and gadgets, playing with his grandchildren, and telling stories and jokes. He was generous, thoughtful, and kind, doing the little and sometimes big things to help family and friends.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ann Javenkoski; children: Lori (Dirk) Holman, Bob (Lora) Javenkoski, Jerry "JJ" Javenkoski, and John (Lea) Javenkoski; grandchildren: Dirk Jr., Isaac, and Blake Holman; Gabrielle Javenkoski; Brandon Javenkoski and Macquel Brown; Grace Javenkoski; sister, Virginia (Bruce) Schaeffer; brother, Roy Javenkowski; and sister-in-law, Lorna Javenkoski. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his siblings, Dave (Lois), Leona (Ashley) Briggs, Clarence (Dorothy), and Carl Javenkoski.

The funeral liturgy for Joe will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, May 2, 2014 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette Street in Appleton, with Rev. William Van Dynhoven officiating. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Appleton. A visitation will be held on Thursday at the Wichmann Funeral Home downtown chapel from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm and again on Friday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.

I don't know Mr. Javenkoski or his family but I thought it was such a nice picture and obituary that I wanted to express my sympathy on his passing to his family. He reminded me of my grandfather and father in his looks and the description of his life--and they were both great guys. May you all cherish the difference he made in your lives--and you have an angel to watch over you. God bless you.
