Joseph Kline

Seymour - Joseph J. Kline passed away peacefully on July 25, 2021 at the age of 90. He was born the son of Edmund and Ardina (Verbeten) Kline on April 2, 1931 in Appleton, WI. He spent his childhood in Kaukauna, WI, graduating from Kaukauna High School in 1949. He then attended St. Norbert College, graduating in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. While in college, he was in ROTC and was commissioned an officer, retiring from the army in 1956.

Joe worked his entire career for AT&T and had the honor of being an AT&T pioneer. A special accomplishment of his was supervising the installation of the dial phone for the entire area of Dallas, Texas. During his career, he was acquisitioned to troubleshoot problems which gave him an excellent opportunity to travel the world. He retired in 1988 and settled in Lombard, IL to be near the "Big City", which he loved. In 2015, he relocated one last time to Seymour, WI to be close to his family.

Joe was a devoted Green Bay Packer and Chicago Cub fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching all kinds of sporting events. He also was an avid reader, visiting the library in Lombard every day. He traveled to every state in the United States via the Greyhound bus, as well as touring overseas with his nieces and nephews. Another thing he loved was bike riding, with his claim to fame being when he biked from Chicago, IL to Seymour, WI in two days when he was in his mid-seventies!

Joe is survived by two sisters: Margaret Coonen, Seymour, WI and Elizabeth Deckter, Addison, IL; nieces and nephews: Mark (Karen) Coonen, Seymour, WI, Mary (Al) Bartz, Appleton, WI, Kathryn (Ed) Akucewich, Willoughby, OH, Steve (Brigitte) Coonen, Annandale, VA, Ann Spaude, Seymour, WI, Diana (Jeff) Shircel, Sheboygan Falls, WI, Mike (Lisa) Coonen, Seymour, WI, Scott (Anita) Coonen, Whitefish Bay, WI; and many great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Edmund Jr., his sister, Marion Kline, his brothers-in-law: Robert Coonen and Paul Deckter; and his nephews: Keith Spaude and Scott Roberts.

Joe always said that his happiest years were his four years spent at St. Norbert College. Therefore, funeral services will be held on the campus at St. Joseph Chapel 123 Grant St, De Pere, WI 54115 on Monday, August 2, 2021. Visitation will be held from 9:30 -11 AM, with the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to follow. The burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Kaukauna, WI.
