Wippich, Larry F.

Life is a stepping stone to eternal happiness.

Larry F. Wippich, age 86, of Appleton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home on December 6, 2017. He was born on April 25, 1931, son of the late Frank and Marcella (Jakowski) Wippich. On May 15, 1954, Larry married Millie Hermsen at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute.

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He has been a member of the American Legion Post #60 in Kimberly for many years. Larry was very dedicated to his Catholic Faith. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Kimberly, where he was an usher, Eucharistic Minister and member of several choirs. Larry was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Heart of the Valley Senior Service Club, and of several card playing clubs for over 60 years.

Larry worked as a roll line operator at the Kimberly Paper Mill until his retirement in 1987. He enjoyed camping, square dancing and working in his workshop. He had an immense love for his family. Each grandchild and great grandchild held a very special place in his heart.

Larry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Millie Wippich; his children: Rose (Ken) Baumgartle, Mary (Marty) San Miguel, Terri (Chris) Scharenbroch, Tom (Kathy) Wippich and Daniel (Jennifer) Wippich; grandchildren: Brenda (Bill) Leon, Bruce (Sherry) Baumgartle, Maylis (Reggie) Ortiz, Kyle (Amanda) Baumgartle, Stephanie (Jasen) Surin, Eric (Kim) Uitenbroek, Kayla Uitenbroek, Amanda (Drew) Wilson, Tarah Holzel, Travis (Amy) Leitzke, Nick Scharenbroch, Sammy Wippich, Carley Wippich (Alex), Seth Wippich (Andrea), Andrew (Theresa) Menting, Isaac Wippich, Jacob Wippich and Hannah Wippich; great grandchildren: Kendra, Tres, Trent, Jada, Teaken, Whitney, Brittney, Cora, Elaina, Rozy, Jaylene, Marcus, Madison, McKenzie, Brantley, Ashton, Evan, Aubre, Lauren, Gabe, Greta, Rhys, Mason, Ayden, Addison, Alahna, Hailey, Brody, Lila and Leo; great great grandson, Zeke; nieces: Cindy (Dan) Barndt, Kathy (Nick) Leisch, Sheri (Gene) Biese and Kristy (Bryan) Vandenberg; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ellie Behling, Grace (Ralph) Schmidt and Lloyd (Marlene) Hermsen; and many other family members and special friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Frank Wippich; his mother and step father, Marcella and George Kroes; brother, Dick (Julie) Wippich; infant brother, Hilary Wippich; brothers and sisters-in-law: Helen (Joe) Vande Voort, Clara (Emmett) Newhouse, Joe (Lillian) Hermsen, Lorraine (Leo) Hooyman, Marian Hermsen, Raymond Hermsen, Cielia Hermsen and Ed Behling.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Holy Spirit Parish, Holy Name Church, 620 E. Kimberly Ave., Kimberly, with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Military Honors will be performed following the service. Interment will be in Holy Name Cemetery.

The Wippich family would like to extend a special thank you to the ThedaCare At Home Hospice team, especially Jenni, Ida, Katie, Dawn and Kelly, and also to all of their good friends for the many visits and support.

So many great memories growing up with the Wippich family. Larry was always the jokester, I enjoyed his humor.
Although this is sad, a smile comes to my face as I remember how he made us laugh.

I've known Larry for at least 38 years,he was not only a good man but a great man to know.Larry always welcomed me to his house in Kimberly & Darboy,after my dad passed away in 1981, I thought of Larry like my 2nd father to me.He was always kind & honest.My thoughts & prayers go out to the whole family,Larry will be truly missed by all
