Linda Nielsen Obituary

Nielsen, Linda M. (Kolosso)

Linda M. Nielsen, 61, Appleton, went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Linda was born in Appleton, on April 11, 1950, to the late Robert and Joan (Long) Kolosso, Jr. She was a graduate of Xavier High School, Class of 1968, and a graduate of UW-Stevens Point, Class of 1973.

On June 28, 1971, she was united in marriage to Jeffrey Nielsen at St Mary Catholic Church, Appleton.

Teaching was the love of her life. She taught at St. John's Catholic School in Menasha, Appleton Christian School, Fox Valley Christian Academy, and was a substitute teacher and tutor.

Linda was one who touched many, many lives. If there was ever a family problem or need, the first person everyone would go to was Linda. She was always willing to do whatever it took, spend as much time as needed, pray, and see the situation through to the end. She always gave more than 100% to any project she was involved with and always expected perfection in everything she did.

On any subject, she had a definite opinion and she never hesitated to share. Linda loved to share her vast knowledge of this world and her spiritual insight. She enjoyed her work with the jail ministry, health and wellness classes, and attending services at El Shaddai Christian Fellowship.

Most of all, she loved her granddaughters, Allison and Hannah. She would complain of withdrawal symptoms if more than two or three days went by with out her seeing them.

She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 40 years, Jeff Nielsen, Appleton; daughter, Rebecca (Jeff) Heegeman, Greenville, and their daughters, Allison and Hannah; son, Joe Nielsen, New York, N.Y., and "daughter" Cora Kolosso, New York, N.Y.; mother, Joan Kolosso, Appleton; three brothers, John (Mary) Kolosso, Little Chute; Bill (Karen) Kolosso, Appleton; Peter Kolosso, Appleton; two sisters, Barb (Jim) Kolosso, Bear Creek; and Nancy (Rick) Oppor, Schaumburg, Ill.; brother-in-law, John (Caroline) Nelson, Neenah; sister-in-law, Judy (Frank) Nielsen, Murfreesboro, Tenn.; special great-nephew and great-nieces, Desmond, D'Ajanae, Faith, Amaya and Angelise. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as many other great-nieces. She truly was a second mother to all.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Kolosso, Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jan Fredrickson officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday and at 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.

One question she was not afraid to ask: If you were to die today, where would you go - Heaven or hell?

Three things you need to know:

1. Romans 3:23 - "We've all sinned."

2. Romans 6:23 - "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life."

3. Romans 10:13 - "Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

One thing you need to do:

Pray this out loud

Heavenly Father, I believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose again. I give you my life. I want Jesus Christ to come into my life and into my heart, Amen…

Congratulations, you are on the way to Heaven and you can meet up with Linda and celebrate for eternity.

I was shocked to hear about Linda's death. I knew her years ago when her mom and I were in Kaukauna Teachers College. She was going to college herself to become a teacher

So sad to see her leave this earth so soon She was a wonderful, caring person who was very bright and creative.

My deepest sympathy to her family and especially her mother. .

My Blessed friend!!! You had a heart so strong for God and you walked that love from Him, everywhere you went!!! You have personally blessed me and my son, Mike.

Every time you told my son how nicely dressed he was or what a wonderful young man he has become, not only made him feel good but blessed me beyond measure knowing that I have raised and am still raising a great young man!!!

You were always sewing into Michael. Whether it was a Hallelujah handshake or paying for his drum lessons. You gave me several outfits and most recently, you gave us gifts for the girls and helped Erika’s daughter, Ria, with her math. You have been a blessing in so many ways!!! I enjoyed the walks we took and the time we had together!!! You’ve been a wonderful friend!!! You will be deeply missed!!! Jeff and family, I speak peace over all of you!!! God Bless!!!

My deepest condolences to Jeff and the entire family. I knew Linda from our church, El Shaddai Christian Fellowship. Linda was there for me in many ways and I enjoyed working with her in the office at church a while back and other things. She is greatly missed. She is dancing with Jesus.

I want to thank Rebecca for her email telling me of her moms (Linda's) passing. I think this shows the great Love the family had for Linda. Linda and I were friends since grade school. I will never forget Linda's smile and laugh. I had hoped to have lunch with her this week - such a good friend she was! As kids Linda lived not far from my folks and we would walk home from school together. As teenagers we shared the secrets that teenagers share. As adults we shared many common interests, joys and sadnesses. In heaven I know that Linda will be happy to see her Dad again and our friend Chris. :) To all Linda's family my sincere condolence - I know that she will truly be missed! Much Love and many Hugs to you my friend - You are missed!!!

Linda was the most faithful friend anyone could ask for...and then some more heaped on top of that! I am grateful for her family who stood beside her. You taught her many valuable lessons. Her Lord and Saviour taught her how to love deeply. She never gave up on people and always tried to meet their needs rather than cater to her own. She served selflessly! I feel privileged to have taught school with her as well as enjoying her friendship. Heaven gained a treasure this week. Thank you to whoever you are who posted the way people can come into the family of God. Someday I know I will spend eternity with Linda. If I listen closely I think I can hear her laugh and song as she worships in the presence of her King, Jesus Christ today. You will be missed Linda but I am glad you are truly HOME and in the loving arms of our Saviour.

I am so sorry to hear about Linda's passing. Her and I grew up together. Our grandparents lived next door to each other. We went thru school together. I have many fond memories of her and the rest of her siblings. She is truly an Angel. Even as a child she was funny , always very sweet to everyone. So many times when I was in WI. for the summer, I would drive by her house and Joan's and think I should stop and surprise her. Well, I didn't and now I sure wish I would of. So I would like to pray for peace for her family and keep all her memories in my heart. hug hug
