Michael Townsend Obituary
Mike Townsend, age 50, of Appleton passed away on December 4, 2017. Mike was born on March 11, 1967 in Neenah and was a 1985 graduate of Waupaca High School. He worked as a journeyman electrician for 26 years but for the last 8 years, he worked for Northland Electrical Services in New London. He married Lisa (Jaworski) on September 3, 1988 and has 2 sons, Brady and Dylan. He enjoyed deer hunting and the watching the Badgers, the Brewers and the Green Bay Packers but attending Brady's and Dylan's sporting events gave him the greatest joy.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa, sons Brady and Dylan; mother Susan (Garold) Bartel; sister Shelley Townsend; brother Mark (Debbie) Townsend. Mike is further survived by Lisa's siblings and in-laws, Lynn (Kevin) Keller, Chris (Tim) Gosse Jim (Ben) Jaworski, Jim (Janelle) Kohls, Tim Kohls, and Joe (Joanne) Kohls. His nieces and nephews, Andrew Curtis, Alyssa and Catie Townsend, Jasmine and Morgan Keller, Ashly Behr and Hailey Kohls. In addition, Hannah Janssen, Brady's girlfriend.
Mike is preceded in death by his dad, BJ Townsend; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Jayne Jaworski, his grandparents Robert and Eleanor Townsend and Barbara Gerdes and Donald Schroeder.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at the Verkuilen-Van Deurzen Family Funeral Home, N3972 Columbia Avenue, Freedom. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and staff at ThedaCare Cancer Center and ThedaCare Hospice Home Care for all the care and compassion given to Mike. All of the staff went above and beyond their typical duties to provide the best care possible for Mike.
