Rachel M. Berens, age 53, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 3, 2019. She was born to Peter and Janet (nee Ganzen) in Appleton on November 4, 1965. Through the years, Rachel worked at various restaurants in the area, including Willie's Supper Club for many years and most recently, Marty's Place. She loved animals, especially her dog Teddy, and showed horses in her younger years. Rachel enjoyed collecting things, particularly jewelry.

Rachel is survived by her son, Will; parents: Janet (Kenneth) Williams of Green Valley, AZ and Peter (Sandra) Berens of Appleton; brother, Nick C. Berens of Fond du Lac; uncles: Paul Berens of Milwaukee and Gary (Pam) Ganzen of Appleton; and aunt, Carol Mundt of Milwaukee. Rachel is also survived by the many friends that she has endeared over the years.

Rachel was preceded in death by her sister, Leah Doris Berens.

On a personal note, Rachel was very gregarious and accepting of everyone. She was trusting and opened her heart and home to anyone in need. Rachel knew no boundaries when it came to helping others.

Rachel loved her son Will very much and was extremely proud of him for being the fine young man he has become.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 at O'CONNELL FUNERAL HOME (1776 E. Main St. Little Chute) beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of Funeral at 11:00 a.m. with Deacon Vincent De Groot officiating. Everyone is welcome to join us for lunch immediately following the memorial service.

Pete and family,

Dear Pete and family,

We were so sorry to hear of Rachel's passing. She was such a wonderful cheerful person, our family loved her. She was the best waitress we ever had. She grew up pretty much in our back yard, you had the farmhouse on the curve on 10Th St and we were on Hennes Court. My brother Bill spent a lot of time at the farm with Rachel when they were kids. I'm sure she is in heaven and again so sorry for your loss!

Words can't express the way we feel of this dear, sweet lady's passing. When Rachel worked at The Villa she was "our" waitress and when she moved to Willie's she continued to be our waitress. She had a contagious smile and sweet personality. Believe me when we had Rachel as our waitress she took good care of us and we will be forever grateful. To her sweet son Will, you probably will never know just how many people enjoyed your mom as their waitress and friend. But, I do know that she was proud of You! The Special bonding between a Mom and her Son will be forever with you. Will, your life will be different without her physical presence, but be assured that she will always be in your heart and watching over you. Rest In Peace Rachel, you will never be forgotten.

I was so sad to hear that Rachel has passed. She was such a sweet girl, I have known her for many years. She worked at my brothers Restuarant , The Villa, and we just saw her at Marty's. You have my deepest sympathy during this difficult time! Cherish the good times you had with your beautiful daughter, it will help to ease the pain! Dear Pete and Jan
We were so sorry to read of Rachael's passing. It makes us very sad for all of you. We always enjoyed having her for our waitress over the years. So sorry that we will be unable to attend the services, but have been in Fla. for the winter and not coming home until next week.

I worked with Racheal at the Villa Restaurant years ago. I just loved her bubbly laugh. She was always kind and thoughtful of others. I would talk to her now and then and she was always that loving person! I am so sorry for your loss.
