Richard Weisgerber Obituary

Weisgerber, Richard J. "Rick"

Neenah

Richard John Weisgerber, age 57, passed away to his much deserved reward on June 19, 2011, after a long struggle with illness. He had battled for many years a variety of illnesses and richly deserves the peace he has now attained.

Richard's life was not all trouble and strife. As a late baby, he was coddled and enjoyed by his older siblings, and was an adopted mascot of the St. Mary football team. He was nicknamed "Cheyenne" and wore a white Stetson to their practices.

Richard also found peace at the family cottage on Lake Poygan. In his teen years, he spent time hunting and fishing there with his dad, brothers, and uncles. Later it became a source of quiet and contentment. Richard also found great joy in his daughters and his three grandchildren. Their love and compassion have been his mainstay during difficult times. He was a gentle and charming soul, loved by many, and will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched.

Richard is survived by his loving daughters: Michelle (Dan) Weisgerber-Westphal and their children: Evelyn, Dan Jr., and Cecelia; Elizabeth Weisgerber; siblings: Dave (Gretchen) Weisgerber, Dawn Klein, Sally Weisgerber, Mary (Tim) Van Harpen, Dan (Judy) Weisgerber, Linda Weisgerber; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard will be put to rest on Friday, June 24, 2011, at St. Mary Cemetery, Town of Menasha. A visitation will be held in the chapel at the cemetery from 1:00-2:00 pm and a service will be held at 2:00 pm with the burial to follow at the cemetery. The family suggests each person attending to bring a single flower to place on his grave. In lieu of flower arrangements, a memorial fund will be established.

May all of the happy memories of moments spent together, as a family, with Rick, comfort you in your time of grief. Know that he loved you all, that he touched many lives, and is now at peace, and in reunion with those who have crossed-over before him. He was a rose that was forever blooming, bringing joy into all of the lives he touched.

When I was going through hard times in my own life a couple of years ago, I often encountered Rick while riding the city bus. He was such a special guy, with a gentle soul, caring eyes, and kind smile. I never even knew his last name, but he will always remain a beautiful person in my memory.

Our deepest sympathy to Michelle & Elizabeth. Your dad was a wonderful person in so many ways. Uncle Tony and I are fortunate to have many happy memories of your dad including the ritual weekend poker games and many laughs watching the good old SNL.

My Dearest Michelle & Elizabeth and family,
My heart and prayers go out to you all, may you find comfort in knowing your dad(Rick)is at peace..... I know there is nothing that anyone can say that will take away the loss you are feeling right now, but may your many good memories of the love you shared bring comfort to you. You loved each other well, and that is all we can ask for in this life, so rest in those memories of good times and be happy for him that he may now rest in peace.
