Dr. Roger E., Wilson

Dr. Roger E. Wilson of Eau Claire (former long time resident of Clintonville, WI) age 80, passed away on March 9th 2016, in Eau Claire Wisconsin with his family by his side.

Roger was born on December 10th, 1935 in Waupaca, WI to parents George and Irene Wilson. He graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1958 with a degree in Optometry. He later furthered his education and became licensed in Medical Optometry. Upon graduation he moved to and established a practice in Clintonville, WI. where he proudly served and cared for patients for 45 years. Upon selling his practice he eased into retirement as an Optometrist at the Menomonie Tribal Clinic. Roger was honored to have been awarded the Wisconsin Optometric Association Optometrist of the Year in 1974.

He married his college sweetheart Judie (Fast) in 1957 and together the couple had three children Gregory, Sandra, and Daniel. He was a great family man and a loving husand. Whether it be engaged in a good discussion, a great laugh, or a special dance, he loved to spend time with his 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He loved to fish and hunt and share his vast knowledge on the outdoors at the family tree farm.

He was a social, active man who was deeply involved in many service organizations. He was a member of the Clintonville Masonic Lodge for many years. He was an avid reader and had a continual thirst for knowledge.

Roger is survived by his his wife Judie, daughter Sandi Guite (Dave), son Daniel Wilson (Stacie), daughter-in-law Sarah Paynter-Wilson, sister Janet Herbert (Earl). Grandchildren Jenni Olson (Steve), Melissa Paynter, Scott Guite (Deelia), Jacob Wilson, Joshua Wilson, Lizzy Paynter, Alissa Wilson, Michael Guite, Haili Wilson, Abby Paynter, and Dani Wilson. Great Grandchildren Gracynn Guite and Owen Olson. Sister-in-laws Sue Molin (William) and Lynda Thompson (Rodney). Many numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son Gregory Wilson, and granddaughter Lauren Wilson.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at a Memorial Service scheduled for Sunday, March 13th at the United Methodist Church in Clintonville, WI. A visitation will be held from 2-4 PM, Service will be at 4:00 with a dinner to follow. A private family burial service will be held at a later date.

I really appreciated Roger's love of the land. I attended a field Day on his property several years ago and remember Roger's smile and those he shared with us as he proudly shared his forestry accomplishments! He and his family made the day a special for me. The Wilson family are in my prayers at this time.
