Stanley Mau Obituary

Mau, Stanley L. "Stan"

Stanley L. "Stan" Mau, 74 years, returned to the Lord May 8, 2017 with his family by his side at Thedacare Regional Medical Center, Appleton. He was born on September 24, 1942 to his parents Alvin and Velma (Livens) Mau in Wabasha, MN. He was a graduate of Alma High School, class of 1960. Stanley enlisted in the US Air Force serving his country from 1960 to 1964 including a tour of duty in Vietnam.

Stan, through mutual friends, met the love of his life, Jan. They were married on December 9, 1967 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cream, WI. Together they settled in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Stan obtained his degree in Accounting from Chippewa Valley Vocational School in 1969. His career with Northern States Power Co. started shortly after. He was a valued employee there and retired in February of 1992 due to health reasons.

Stan was a season ticket holder of his beloved Packers. He and Jan attended many games together. Even when he was unable to attend games he cheered them on with family and friends at home. He also followed the Brewers and Badgers. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with the family near Birchwood and the Chippewa Flowage. He hunted Elk out West and hunted deer at his cabin in Buffalo County, WI. Stan was a proud member of the Grand Chute and Eau Claire Evening Lions Clubs serving in many offices. Most of all he enjoyed traveling with Jan and spending time with his grandchildren.

Stan will be missed by his wife Janice "Jan" (Stirn) Mau, sons Brett (Beth) Mau and Jason (Kris) Mau, grandchildren Kendall and Bryce Mau; Kalli, Brayden and Jake Mau. Further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Velma Mau.
