Steven Knott Obituary

Knott, Steven

Steven H. Knott, "Doc". Kaukauna, age 59, passed away unexpectedly from complications of chemotherapy and West Nile Virus on Sunday August 31, 2014. He left us with his entire being drenched in his family's tears of sadness and wrapped in a thick, heavy and raw love for him. Steve was born November 27, 1954 in Kaukauna, son of the late Roy and Elsie (Miller) Knott. In 1977, he married Lori Wendzikowski. They brought 2 beautiful daughters into the world. In 1986, he married Denise Deering and they brought 2 beautiful daughters into the world. Steve was a fun loving guy and never took life too seriously. He loved his motorcycle and our yearly trips of adventure. He spent many years up north making those around him laugh. He also enjoyed hunting and driving his Nova.

Steve is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Denise; his 4 daughters: Kelly (special friend Michael Aquino), Nicole (Ethan) Jensen, Kasey (Chris) Van Groll, and Kristin (special friend Cameron Green); 2 grandchildren: Olivia Robinson and Colton Van Groll; 2 brothers: Mike (Barb) Knott and Roy (Rose) Knott Jr.; 2 sisters: Kay Tucker and Lynn Knott. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Doc.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Elsie (Knott) Kobs, his in-laws: Erle and Darlene Deering and his best friend, Dennis Copet.

A Memorial Gathering for Steve will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2014 at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna. In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. www.boettcherfamilyfuneral.com

Thank you to the special staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, especially the nurses on the 4th floor for going above and beyond, and for the amazingly brilliant team at the University of Wisconsin in Madison for tirelessly working to try and save him.

To my honey - I am reeling from the loss of my one and only. I can't even begin to find the words to express the devastation that landed in my heart and crushed it when I had to say good-bye. Every day forward will be filled with a sense of utter grief that I no longer get to see the twinkle in your beautiful eyes, feel the strength of your strong arms around me protecting me, and enjoying your amazing sense of humor. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being the hardest worker I have ever known, your family always knew they could count on you. Denise

Dear Dad - we are not ready to let you go! You are our compass, the one who wouldn't mince words about what you expected from us. You handled all the emotion of 4 daughters with a perfect balance of strength and fun. Oh how we will miss having a beer with you and watching you do your "Captain Morgan" stance. Our hearts are irreversibly broken forever. We will miss and long for you every second of every day of the rest of our lives. We feel empty without you. We love you.

Kelly, Nikki, Kasey and Kristin

To the family of Steve. Thank you for the time we had with you and your family. Steve will be missed by our family. His laughter, and how he would scare the girls,or give me a hard time about the lawn being to long, and not having a beer for him. Our hearts have a hole in them, for the loss of a special guy.
