Thomas Wolf Obituary

Wolf, Thomas G.

Age 91, of Appleton, passed away at Huger Mercy Living Center in Phoenix on August 18, 2017. He was born on January 28, 1926 to Leon and Adele (Corcoran). He served his country stateside in WWII and was stationed in Seoul as a fire chief during the Korean War. He married Nola Krull in 1955. He was a devoted husband for 62 years and a loving father to his four children.

Tom was a lifelong resident of Appleton as was his father and grandfather before him. He had a huge heart for his hometown. As a businessman, he owned Valley Recharging Service/Valley Fire for 30 years. He was a tireless volunteer serving the Catholic Church, the Cursillo movement, BSA, FISC, COTS, Pioneer Village and many others.

He enjoyed time sailing on Lake Winnebago, skiing at Calumet Hill, playing bridge with Nola and cribbage at the farm in Suring.

He is survived by his wife, his children; Greg (Gay Lynn) Wolf of Neenah, Susan (Doug) Sawyer of Phoenix, Arizona and Alison (Charlie) Bayne of Boise, Idaho, nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, sisters Rose Ann Kinzer and Helen (Lee) Schwartz and his brother Joe. He was preceded in death by his brothers Jimmy and John, his sister Mary and his daughter Ellen.

Tom was quick with a joke and needed little prompting to pull out his ukulele. He had an Irish twinkle in his eye and a smile to match. We will all miss him dearly.

A mass and reception will be held at St. Joe's Catholic Church on September 8 at 10:30 a.m.

Tom and I worked together at Pioneer Village (home for needy people) for ten years and became good friends. He was always an inspiration to me and we could share our faith in Jesus Christ together. Very much fun to be with especially at deer hunting with the whole Mullen clan! Memories to last a lifetime. Heaven may have to change a little if I know Tom! Have fun forever Tom. Bob Radosevich Best to all the family and God Bless You All

Tom, next to my parents, was the most influential person in my life. At age 10, I used to love going along for the rides as he delivered fire extinguishers. "You have to be careful what you drive; if you have something flashy, like a Mercury, the customer will resent it because they think they are paying for it". The most impressive thing was that the customers were always glad to see Tom. They loved his smile, they loved his genuine good nature. A truly fine man and a great role model. Mike Dale

Just mention "Uncle Tommie", and the memories start flowing--Friendly Fathers camping, UP ski trips, sailing, card nights. We identify them each with the phrase, "Wasn't that the time Uncle Tommie . . . " He was an instigator of glorious mayhem, and we loved him for it.
