Bedard, Jr., William B.

William B. Bedard, Jr., Moline, IL, formerly of Appleton, passed away at his home in Moline, Illinois on Friday, August 15, 2015, following a brave battle with COPD.

Bill was born in Chicago on Jan. 1, 1940, to William, Sr. and Arla Bedard. They moved to Appleton in 1948. He graduated from Appleton High School (west) in 1958 and married Judith Lynn Weinberger Dec. 9, 1961.They had 2 children, Scott William and Stacy Lynn.

Bill served in the U.S.Navy from Aug. 1, 1961 to April 26, 1969. He served as Nuclear Power Reactor Operator aboard the USS Simon Bolivar, SSBN 641, Polaris submarine, completing 6 patrols to many places in the world. Bill was an avid, lifelong Green Bay Packer fan.

Following his discharge, the family moved back to Appleton, where Bill joined his parents and brothers in business, Bedard's Textures Unlimited.

The family also lived in Peoria, IL before moving to Moline in 1980, where Bill owned a roofing company until 1996. He retired from ConAm in 2008.



A service will be held at 11 am, Thursday, Aug. 27, at First Evangelical Free Church, 3321 7th Street, Moline 61265, with visitation one hour prior to service and military burial following at Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery. Trimble Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn, daughter, Stacy Zmuda (Mark) and grandchildren, Caleb, Scott, and Bethany, Coal Valley, IL; brother, Terry, Phoenix, AZ.

Bill was preceded in death by his son, Scott William in 1984, his parents, and brother, Ronald. Memorials may be made to Bill Bedard Memorial Fund. On-line condolences may be left at TrimbleFuneralHomes.com.

To the Bedard Family,

On behalf of the Charleston Base SUBVETS and Swamp Fox Chapter SUBVETS WWII, I offer you our sincere condolences on Bill's passing. We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and all SUBVETS and their families have your family in our thoughts and prayers. There is no expiration date on the back of our dolphins and Bill will always be remembered as a Brother of the Phin and a great Patriot.
