Craig Rushworth Obituary

Craig Rushworth, age 64, passed away peacefully Sept. 15, 2016, with Kathryn, his wife of 26 years, by his side.

Known to most as "Rush," he was the oldest of seven children born to Harold Frank and Coleen Marie Rushworth.

Rush graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City. He made his living with his hands as an electrician. This was a skill he taught and shared with many. With his teaching abilities, he became a certified hunter safety instructor, teaching many students the importance of gun safety. He was always teaching someone even when he didn't realize it.

Rush was passionate about life and his many hobbies. He loved to cook and find new recipes, but found his greatest happiness outdoors. He spent countless hours hunting, fishing and camping. He participated in many Mountain Man Rendezvous, which included making his own clothing, knives and tools as historically authentic as possible. His talents also included building his own cannon. He tied his own flies for fly fishing, camped in teepees and would hunt pretty much anything.

He loved his dogs. He thought of them as his children and spoiled them accordingly.

Though he could sometimes come across as a rough and gruff man, Rush was one of the kindest, most down-to-earth men you could have ever met. He was known for speaking his mind and you always knew where you stood with him. Rush's no-nonsense approach to life was known to all and appreciated by them.

Rush was preceded in death by his father, Harold.

Survived by his wife, Kathryn; his mother, Coleen; and his siblings, Lynette Isom, Lorraine (Neil) Calderwood, Richard Rushworth (Meranda), Lonnie (Darrell) Beck, Lory (Jeremy) Hicks and Layne (Brigette) Rushworth.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the home of Rush's mother, 3616 Coats Drive, Taylorsville, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.eckersellfuneralhome.com.

Although I didn't get to know Craig as closely as I would have liked, what I did see of him was ALL positive. A solid citizen, dependable man and loving husband...it was an honor to call him my brother. John Paul
