Dale Armstrong Obituary

William Dale Armstrong, 93, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Dale was born February 21, 1932, in Rigby, Idaho, to William Leslie and Dora Harmon Armstrong. He grew up in the Lewisville area, and shared many mischievous stories about life on the farm with his sister, Jean, and three brothers, David, Arvin, and Artell. While attending high school in Lewisville, Midway, and Rigby, he enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, and football. His appreciation for sports continued as he attended his children's and grandchildren's sports events throughout his life.

Dale married Esther Lue Fisher on September 15, 1952, and they were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 28, 1957. Dale and Esther lived in San Antonio, Texas; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Shelton, Washington; Idaho Falls; Rock Springs, Wyoming; Rigby; and Ammon.

Dale worked in field construction as a welder and in operations and maintenance at the Idaho National Laboratory. He was a member of the American Welding Society. Dale shared his love for the great outdoors with his family. Together, they spent time hunting, hiking, and camping. From May to September, Dale could be found on the river steelhead fishing and white-water rafting. In the winter, he enjoyed piecing and sewing quilt tops with Esther for their grandchildren.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dale found great fulfillment in his faith and service. He held a variety of callings, including Scout Leader, Bishop, High Counselor, and Primary Teacher. He often testified of his love for Jesus Christ and His atonement.

He is survived by his children, Kelli (Heinrich) Schifferer, Lyle (Susan) Armstrong, Ann (Roger) Clark, Joyce (Ken) Bentley, Cheryl (Stan) Kirchner, Kathi (Jerry) Wheeler, and Brandon (Lisa) Armstrong; 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and brother, Artell (Myrna) Armstrong.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; his parents; his sister; two of his brothers; and his grandson, Joshua Kirchner.

He will be remembered for his wisdom, sense of humor, strong faith, and deep love for his family. His legacy of service and kindness lives on in all who knew him.
