Deven Duffin Obituary

Deven Eric Duffin, 39 of Blackfoot, ID passed away on Tuesday September 12, 2023 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.

Deven was born February 27, 1984 in Rexburg, Idaho to Eric Wade Duffin and Melanie Zollinger. He lived in Aberdeen, where he attended and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 2002. Growing up in Aberdeen he was active in Rodeo, Basketball, Football, Wrestling and helping on the family farm. Following graduation he attended college in Lamar, Colorado and Dillon, Montana where he was involved in rodeo. He was offered a job for Powder River Livestock Equipment and traveled to Canada and Northwest United States and met a lot of friends along the way that he still remained close with.

Deven met the love of his life Ashley in the summer of 2008. They were married on June 18, 2010 in Pocatello, Idaho. Together they welcomed their three children, Aiden (12), Ryker (11) and Dakota (8). They resided in Pocatello until 2012 when Deven was working for the Pocatello Eagle Rock Harley Davidson and was offered to come out to California and open up a new dealership. They decided California was not for them and moved back to Idaho the following year. He then began to start his new career with Union Pacific Railroad as a Conductor in Pocatello. They called Blackfoot their home for the last three years. Deven started getting back involved in the Rodeo community, he bought a hunting string of horses for him and his boys, rope horses and a barrel/Pole horse for his daughter Dakota.

Deven had a fierce passion for the great outdoors, enjoyed everything from roping, fishing, hunting. He was a loyal friend, he loved to host get togethers with friends, family and had a love for a good time with great food. Deven never met a stranger, and was always willing to give his last dollar and the shirt off his back if you needed it and never wanted recognition for it. He always had a smile on his face and was always laughing and in good spirits. You couldn't help but laugh and have an amazing time when you were with or around him.

He is survived by his wife Ashley, his children, Aiden, Ryker and Dakota, parents Eric and Melanie Duffin of Wittmann, AZ, siblings, Brady (Sydney) Duffin of Rigby, ID and Lacey (Wes) Ford of Mesa, AZ , his in-laws, Kandi (Karlin) Anderson of Aberdeen, ID and Richard Trevino of Pocatello, ID. His sisters-in-law, Tenika (Kendrick) Landvatter of Aberdeen, ID, Serena (Scott) Alvey of American Falls, ID, Chelsey of Pocatello, ID and Brother-in-law, Colten of American Falls, ID., grandmother Mary Zollinger and Lots of Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents John and Myrna Duffin, and his aunt Andrea Duffin. Maternal grandfather Dennis Zollinger.

Deven will always be remembered for his smile, sense of humor, the love he had for his wife and children, and his work ethic. He lived life to the fullest; there was never a dull moment and always encouraged others to do the same.

Family and friends gathered for a viewing Monday the 18th from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S Shilling Ave. Blackfoot, ID. A graveside funeral service was held at 11:00 am Tuesday September 19th, 2023 at the Aberdeen Cemetery, 2651 Aberdeen Rd, Aberdeen, ID. I first met Deven in 2007. He was a genuine and humble guy. He was the one that always made us laugh and hands down had the best jokes. He was free spirited and such a pleasure to be around. I pray for you Ashley, kiddos and families during this unfortunate loss. Sending hugs and prayers.

I really enjoyed Deven when he was in the middle school in Aberdeen. He made tutoring an experience. That led to me staying with him, Bradley, and Lacey when Eric and Melanie needed or wanted to bake a weekend. I enjoyed spending time with Deven outside of the school.
Please think of the good and special times tou hah with him. Ashley and his children will need that as well as the support of a loving and giving family. My love, prayers and condolences are with you at this challenging time.
I'm so sorry. Irene Beach
