Dot Afton Sayer Earl

Dot Earl Obituary

Dot Afton Sayer Earl, 88, passed away February 23, 2008, in Pocatello, Idaho, of natural causes. She was anxious to return to her Father in Heaven and join her beloved husband, Bill.

Dot was born March 5, 1919, in Bone, Idaho, on a little remote dry farm. Her parents were William Martin Sayer and Sarah Simmons Sayer. She was blessed to be born into a large family. She was the eighth child in a family of thirteen. Lots of brothers and sisters to love and enjoy during her lifetime.

Dot and William Earl were married August 16, 1941, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were blessed with one child, a daughter, Claudette. Dot graduated from Ucon High School and Ricks College, where she received her teaching degree and was back in Bone, Idaho, teaching by the age of nineteen. Dot taught school for many years in Idaho and California. She was proud of each of her students and being able to touch their lives. Education was her passion, but she also enjoyed the hunt and collecting of antiques.

Dot is survived by her daughter, Claudette of Ontario, California; three sisters, Elaine Hillman of Pocatello, Idaho, Ieleen Empey of Pocatello, Idaho, and Sharon Whitworth of Mackay, Idaho; three sisters-in-law, Thelma Sayer of Leslie, Idaho, Frances Sayer of Mackay, Idaho, Edythe Sayer of Mackay, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Preceding her in death was her husband, William; her parents; eight brothers, Phil, George, Elwood, Eli, Max, Rex, Nolan and Treasure Sayer; and one sister, Belva Delaney.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29, at the Mackay LDS Church. A viewing will be held from noon until time of the service. Burial will be in the Mt. McCaleb Cemetery under the direction of the Anderson Family Funeral Home.
