Eileen Kathleen Horning passed away peacefully on January 8, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
She is now at peace and no longer in pain watching over all that loved her.
Eileen was born on February 13, 1951, to Alex and Rose Schneider. She was the middle of five children. She grew up in North Dakota on her parent's farm with her two older siblings and two younger siblings. She graduated in 1969 from Center High School in North Dakota. She loved her family always wanting to spend time together. Eileen learned from her parent how to play pinocle and when she and her family would visit there was nightly games to be played around the dining table. She was a peacekeeper with everyone, even though at times it was hard. She loved spending holidays with family.
In 1972 she had her first daughter, Pam. In 1976 came her second daughter Melissa. In 1979 she met the love of her life Mike Horning and shortly after they moved to Montana. Eileen worked at numerous mom and pop restaurants as a cook. She loved making people happy with food. Even when it came time to make candy for Christmas, she would make special plates to take to work with her for the regular customers. Some would even look forward to it as much as her family did. They made many lifelong friends while living in various places in Montana. In 1986 they welcomed their third daughter Tiffany.
In 1990 after Pam graduated, they made their move to Idaho. Where she called home until she passed away. She loved hiking and camping with Mike and her dog. Eileen worked as a cook in the school lunchroom. This is where she met her friend Edna Valentine. They worked side by side until her youngest graduated high school. There was many Friday and Saturday nights spent watching high school basketball games. And when at home she was an avid NBA fan. The girls learned young that there are two things that you do not interrupt, when she was watching basketball and when she was watching Days of our lives. You did not call her when her Days was on. You would have to call back when it was over. Eileen enjoyed spending time outdoors, going on short weekend drives just to get away, and most importantly spending time with her girls, grandkids, and great grandkids. She had a big heart and loved everyone she meets. She was a friend to so many and will be greatly missed.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents Alex and Rose Schneider. Her sister Alice Ziemann. Sister-in-law Evelyn Schneider. A nephew Wayne Schneider. And her Son in Law Gordon (Trey) Sincomb.
