Elizabeth McCleery Gesas Browning, 98, formerly of Idaho Falls, who has been residing in the Denver area since 2006, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014.
She was born in Salt Lake City to Edward D. McCleery and Ella Virginia Harr McCleery on Nov. 2, 1915. She graduated from Twin Falls High School and attended Kathryn Gibbs College in San Francisco.
She married Horace S. Gesas, an Idaho Falls native, in 1940. Mr. Gesas passed away in 1965. She married Charles E. Browning in 1970, who predeceased her.
From 1965 to 1985, Mrs. Browning was a licensed Realtor with Naegle Realty. Earlier, she and her first husband, Horace Gesas, owned and operated a women's clothing store, Gesas Ready-to-Wear, for which Elizabeth was the buyer.
Bette was remembered as a gracious and elegant woman who greatly enjoyed world travel and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Jan (Fred) Hornick of Denver; a son, E. Barney (Nancy) Gesas of Salt Lake City; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth Gesas of Los Angeles, and Scott (Monica) Hornick, Jill (Jared) Moyer and David (Anne) Hornick, all of Denver. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren and a beloved niece, Catherine Nelson of Idaho Falls.
