John Robert Mejia Batt, 37, of Fort Hall, Idaho, passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018, surrounded by his family.
John was born March 7, 1980, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Tena A. Batt Silveira and father Reyes Mejia, they later divorced. Tena married Cesilio Silveira Sr and together they raised John. John married Chantay Pabawena whom they had three children. He loved spending most of his time with his wife and children.
John was raised the majority of his childhood in Fort Hall, Idaho. He attended Sho-Ban Headstart, Fort Hall Elementary, Mountain View Middle School in Blackfoot, Rigby High School and Graduated from Rigby Alternate High School. John was part of the Warriors for Christ Dance Group, who traveled around various states and reservations dancing and spreading the good word.
After graduation John worked in Rigby, Idaho where he lived for the majority of his life working for Ted Hanson's Farm and Shane Jacobson's Farm in Annis/Menan area as a farm and ranch hand. John also enjoyed returning to his home in Gibson Idaho to stay and visit with family over the weekends. Later John returned to Fort Hall, Idaho during his illness for the remainder of his life. He enjoyed trailing cattle, riding horses, irrigating and farming the land.
He is survived by his spouse Chantay Ambrosia (Pabawena) Mejia; three children: John Mejia JR. (JJ), Susana Lyn Mejia, Isaac Silvano Mejia; parents Tena (Cesilio, Sr.) Silveira; brothers Tino Batt, Cesilio Silveira Jr.; sister Janet Silveira; half-sisters, Raelynn (Shawn) Appenay, Carmen Mejia, Angela Mejia; maternal grandmother Edith George (Sam) Uribe; maternal aunts Manuelita (Floyd) Bill, Verla Batt Farmer, Twila (Arthur) Thompson, Lila Perdomo; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and distant relatives.
John is proceeded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Freda George Batt; uncles Brently Batt and Lynn Batt; aunts Roberta Batt Pubigee, Justine Batt and Rebecca Batt Wilson; cousins Alfred Pubigee JR, Juliana Batt, Arron Pubigee, Spencer Elias Pubigee, Bertlee Tavo, Michael Lyman Batt and Pamela Hatch.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m.. Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at Hawker Funeral Home Blackfoot, Idaho. Following the services, John will be taken to Tino Batt's residents in Gibson, Idaho, near Exit 89 on Highway 91, south of Blackfoot (923 Highway 91) for viewing. Traditional services will be held at the Gibson Cemetery at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2018. Condolences may be sent to the family at: www.hawkerfuneralhome.com.
