Jordan Speirs Obituary

Jordan Shawn Speirs, 23, of Provo, Utah, formerly of Ammon, Idaho, passed away Nov. 3, 2015, at Heber Valley Medical Center in Heber City, Utah, from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Born Nov. 13, 1991, in Provo, Utah, Jordan was the eldest of five children born to Shawn Douglas Speirs and Erika Bird Speirs. He spent his early years in Bountiful, Utah, and attended Hannah Holbrook Elementary School. The family then moved to Ammon, Idaho, where he attended Ammon Elementary, Sandcreek Middle School, and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 2010.

He enjoyed playing football and running track. He was a member of the 2008 State Championship Football Team at Hillcrest, where as a running back, he received local and state recognition. He was also a member of the state champion 4x200 and sprint medley relays and finished second in the 4x100 relay.

Jordan attained the rank of Eagle Scout and served in various leadership positions in the scouting organization.

He attended Snow College in Ephraim, Utah, and then moved to Provo in 2013, to attend Utah Valley University where he was pursuing a degree in the medical field. He worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at various assisted living centers and loved working with the elderly. He was currently employed at Revere Health for Dr. Kevin Gardner, Dermatologist. He thoroughly enjoyed his job and the vast array of opportunities associated with it. He loved all those he worked with and gained many friendships there.

He enjoyed traveling. Some of his favorite places were New York City, Mexico and most recently a family vacation along the Oregon Coast. He loved trying unusual foods and was interested in learning about other cultures. He enjoyed many sports including football, basketball, tennis, baseball, and wakeboarding.

He could be found cheering on his favorite teams the BYU Cougars and the New England Patriots. He loved just hanging out, with his brother, sisters, cousins and friends, doing most anything. Jordan's love was his family. He found great joy in serving others and was an example to all.

Jordan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission in the Ghana, Accra Mission. He developed such a love for the people of Africa.

My fondest memory of Jordan was during his employment at Mt.Vernon assisted living. All the residents loved him and all the fellow employees wanted to work with him. He was always friendly, upbeat and eager to help others. He always came to work with a cheerful disposition and a big smile. One day at work on an especially difficult and busy day Jordan was trying lighten the mood and lift everybody's spirits and nearly cut his thumb clean off while twirling a plate. We rushed him to the ER where his loving Dad met us.
Jordan will be missed.
Sincerely ,Bart Larsen
