Joy Hendricks Murdock, 83, of Idaho Falls, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Joy was born on March 25, 1933, in Sugar City, Idaho, to Zeddie William and Bessie Richards Hendricks. She grew up in the Sugar City and Saint Anthony area. She graduated from South Fremont High School in 1951.
On June 14, 1951, she married her true love, Ralph Ervin Murdock, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Together, they raised four children. They spent many years in Sugar City, three years in Anaconda, Mont., and the remaining years in Idaho Falls.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served many positions in the church, including Relief Society counselor, pianist, team teacher for Sunday school and served with young women and girls camp. She also worked in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Some of her favorite hobbies were fishing, crocheting, knitting, sewing and poetry.
Joy was humorous, had a great personality and had just enough spunk. She lived to love her family, Christ and life.
She was survived by her son, Scott Ervin (Debbie) Murdock of West Jordan, Utah; her daughters, Sandra (Quinn) Jacobsen of Dubois, Idaho, Becky (Dale) Stokes of Quincy, Calif., and Cassie Jo (Dennis) Blomquist of Goldendale, Wash.; her sister, LuDeen Murri of West Jordan; 21 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Zeddie and Bessie Hendricks; her husband, Ralph Murdock; her two sisters, Lucille Miller and Zola Hendricks; and her two brothers, Verl and Donald Hendricks.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., in Idaho Falls. Family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to services, both times at Coltrin Mortuary. Burial will be in Wilford Cemetery.
