Max Lorin Fullmer, 88, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2014, in Nampa, Idaho, from natural causes.
He was born Feb. 8, 1926, in Driggs and attended schools in Driggs, Osgood and Idaho Falls. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1944.
Shortly after graduating, he was drafted in the U.S. Army to serve in the European Theatre of World War II and remained in Europe until the spring of 1946.
After returning to America and finishing his service, Max served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1946 to 1947. His mission was cut short due to physical complications. In September 1947, he began his four year tenure at Ricks College in Rexburg to gain a bachelor's degree in education.
During this time, in 1948, he met Darlena Cathern Belnap. They were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple that following year in February on Max's birthday.
After graduating from Ricks in 1951, he began to teach school. On June 22 of that year, their only child, Monte Lynn, was born.
Max always loved flying and the world of aviation. Because of that love, in 1957, he decided to leave school teaching and go back to school to pursue a career that would allow him to work in the Federal Aviation Agency. He worked at this occupation until his medical retirement in 1983.
After retirement, he took up many hobbies, some of which were working with classic automobiles, farming and flying.
Max is survived by his wife, Darlena, and their son, Monte Lynn, and his wife, Kimmie, and their daughter, Cassandra Marie Fullmer Robles.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, at Caldwell 15th Ward LDS Chapel, 18463 Northside Blvd. in Nampa. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Caldwell, Idaho. Arrangements are under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel in Nampa, 467-7300.
